  1. It will finish off the genre, just a very slow-motion death. Y&R has been terrible on this subject for a long time and just benefited from the work past writers and producers did to get them where they are.
  2. Yes. And he still seems to be doing OK. (he was more interesting in that web soap than he ever was on Y&R)
  3. Yes. IIRC, Matt pulled out his own tube or whatever (as he was dying anyway) to try to frame Nick. This choice seems incredibly desperate. Who was asking for a Matt Clark return? It's like they went through a Rolodex of rapists as Howarth was on call.
  4. Granville was on Y&R and PC.
  5. Thanks again @Maxim Both wonderful scenes. The layers are what make you feel involved. The dilemma is all too real. You aren't just seeing cutouts being thrown through plot points. A real contrast to a year and a half earlier when Viki was helping Renee with the DuAnn hysteria. And that moment with Viki and Jessica is genuinely very effective, seeing her tell Jessica she is entitled to the worry and anger she is feeling. I hadn't seen Viki's outfit before - all those big buttons.
  6. Thanks @Maxim that was very early in the Doctors repeats as James Noble is still there. I think I remember that. She has a good presence. Smart writing to cover for her loss of voice.
  7. Thanks for that rundown @Paul Raven You or @dc11786 may know more than I do about whether these episodes are already available, but a slew of Backstage Wife episodes have been put on Archive. Ron Bowser-John Dunning Project - Mary Noble, Backstage Wife : Ron Bowser-John Dunning Project : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive
  8. Thank you. That's a lovely photo. Weird to see Bert and Roger so happy together. They really should have brought Billy and Peggy back for a bit later but I've gone over that before.
  9. I didn't mind him when he was almost paired with Lily, but the Connor story also made me mad. They had no chemistry and the attempts at forcing a "hot" affair only made that clearer. Then they cut off his hair, which was the only memorable thing about him.
  10. I posted a link in the Dark Shadows thread. I've only watched the first episode and part of the second but it seems alright - more engaging than some web soaps I've tried over the years. The audio is much better than many over the years, which is a big help. I like the premise and the performances and that the characters used to work on a soap together, but they don't get too cutesy on that topic (other than saying the name of the show was "As the World Twirls," which is just stupid). I know Susan's been dealing with more health problems, but she still looks and sounds like herself and can still perform well. KLS looks great too. David Selby and Granville Van Dusen are also fine (maybe the first role the latter has had that doesn't make me sleepy).
  11. Thanks @watson71 I really appreciate that. They both look great. Now I want to see a Catlins/Family Matters crossover.
  12. Those are all great @soapfan770 The personal pictures, GL, ATWT (which reminds me of a space epic). I wish I knew how to make those for some of the shows that weren't on long like Rituals or The Catlins...can't even remember the latter's opening.
  13. Thanks @alwaysAMC for the rundown. A shame they didn't do more, but like you said, they had a lot going on. The moment with Reva and Billy makes me smile. Given their rocky history I'm never sure how believable it should have been but enough time had passed, I suppose. I'm sorry he wasn't there to react when she first returned from the dead, but I'm still, all these years later, happy the character (and Jordan) came back at all.
  14. I didn't watch Christmas 1996 but I remember SPW claiming it was another flashback Christmas. I'd forgotten they had any clips for the 50th. I think GL replayed a few, although I'm not sure how far back they went. I have a vague memory of one being when Philip learned he was Justin and Jackie's biological son.
  15. Thanks. Nola being a few years old makes sense. I think the first time GL had proper flashbacks to olden days would have been the 1995 Christmas show. I don't know how often they had them after that (and the 1996 show?).
  16. Thanks. Yes. Emma (?) left for college and then I think the other daughter became part-time the next season. I don't think K&A ever became bad but there was nothing left, and having Allie marry, her and Bob move to a new home, and Kate also moving with them just puts a big red circle around that. All we were missing for end-of-series bingo was adopting a child. Moonlighting seemed to be death by a thousand cuts. I'm almost surprised they lasted as long as they did. All these years later I'm still impressed Knots managed to last against peak LA Law.
  17. The insane thing is in its last year or two ATWT was still doing this with Mick Hazen in bed with Meredith Hagner when he was underage, although I don't think it was anywhere near the level of what Genie or Kristen had to play. Yes. I guess Kelly was meant to be mid 20s anyway. I can never remember if Nola is meant to be the same age as Morgan. I do wish we'd gotten to see how Marland's plans for Morgan/Kelly/Nola would have played out as what we got onscreen makes them a taller sell. Even if Nola did reform, it's hard for me to imagine them eventually becoming a real couple.
  18. The scenes are lots of fun - I hadn't seen all of them so thanks for reminding me to go look. Robin played the absurdity well, like Dorian was remembering productions of Camille she was probably an extra in at school. I liked that they had Viki being somewhat understanding about Dorian to Cassie, which reminded us of Viki's grace. It's still strange sometimes to remember how long Viki lived in that little cottage or wherever, rather than Llanfair. Sometimes I wonder if certain writers and producers just didn't want Viki in Llanfair and thought it suited Dorian. Thank you for the clip with Dorian and Viki. Once again everything is so professionally done. Soap slaps can often be framed in ways that showcase how fake they are - this one just going from the back of Dorian's head helps add to the illusion. I love that moment with Viki saying, "I am NOT playing." You genuinely worry for how far Dorian has pushed her. I don't know if it was intentional or not but, in the photo, Sloan looks like a vampire and Viki his victim.
  19. Meanwhile one of the nods to history I would have kept (Kelly's) they got rid of. So many of these ties just feel meaningless. I know people hate the OLTL crossovers but I tend to prefer some of those (or ABC crossovers in general) if they can have some current story with current characters. I don't know any story purpose for having Jackie Templeton as Chase's mother or a dead Jimmy Lee Holt as Austin's father. At least I could say trips to Corinth were nice for me and one or two Loving/GH viewers...no idea who out there would want to hear Jimmy Lee is dead but here's his son, who looks like two rapists.
  20. I don't think Martin has any set personality. For long periods of time, he was some kind of quasi-comic relief, with a Foghorn Leghorn accent that the show had him take classes to magically get rid of.
  21. Thanks again @dc11786 always enjoy these. You are right about the mixed messages in the show's tales about abortion and adoption. I suppose that is inevitable as there was likely always a push over just how much of the fundamentalist Christian content they were going to center. A shame they never quite seem to know what to do with Russ.
  22. If you ever want to see that material, there are a few episodes/clips here:
  23. Thank you to @jam6242 for pointing this out in another thread. It's a new web soap starring Kathryn Leigh Scott, David Selby, Susan Sullivan, and, for non-DS but soap involvement, Granville Van Dusen. There are about six episodes up.
  24. Another case of a soap not even being listed in an actor's credits. I didn't realize Jefferson was on the show such a short time. Didn't they have some kind of backstory when Kelsey and briefly Tara were around that he was gay, or people thinking he might have a history with Michael Delaney? I may just be mixing that up with story ideas... From the little I've seen of Mary Lynn Blanks here or on ATWT, I am not sure her father was wrong. In regard to AMC she seemed very miscast, like if someone had hired a Three's Company actress. Reminds me of how boards or especially soap Twitter can be now, but now you have so many added agendas and toxicity.
