  1. @Robluvthebeach Never knew that. Thanks. I wonder what the story would have been. Probably sleeping with Gus... @alwaysAMC Thanks for the latest mini-review. I also love to hate Dinah by this point. That's her best use. The Cassie/Harley friendship is one of those times where the characters we are meant to like are paired together, rather than what is interesting. Harley, at least until she was paired with Mallet, used to have unique relationships and friendships. I think you're right about why Bill was recast. Ryan Brown, unfortunately, is little more than a Ken doll. I don't believe he would be a child of Billy and Vanessa any more than I believed he was a child of Jill Foster.

  3. I was going to ask if she could be turfed out in the slim chance they redistrict in NY but if she's Staten Island, probably not. @Vee Yes. I was thrilled. And while Jay Jones said incredibly stupid things in his text, I'm glad voters had the sense to still not vote for a Republican, no matter how much the GOP and the media went on about decency. Republicans have no decency and no moral authority. The state rep who cynically held onto the texts to release far into the election cycle also lost her seat tonight - oops! You're right about Biden and how the Beltway and the constant grievances and gleeful enabling of any Republican along with any Republican-leaning "edgy" leftist who will posture against the establishment before fully imploding (like the new darling Graham Platner). You can see that ilk, like Majority Report, being angry tonight because Mamdani didn't win by as much as Spanberger or Sherill did. Or in Dave Weigel spending day after day trashing Karine Jean Pierre, but when asked about the sugar baby currently serving as Trump's propagandist, just said that she's good. Anyway, here's a brief list of the various wins tonight.
  4. Tracy was not a good mother, so I guess I get it, but the whole family piling on just shows how plot-driven and interchangeable the material is, as @titan1978 mentioned above.
  5. VintageNoSpintage has put up a number of June and July 1984 episodes (not sure if these are the same videos that I think were on Spauldingfield's channel at one point earlier this year).
  6. Ned's always been like that, it just isn't as noticeable because he rarely appears now.
  7. That could have been an interesting story, and a darker path for how much Ed drew in broken birds. They didn't create Vanessa so she wouldn't have been involved, but Vanessa and Lainie fighting over Ed while Vanessa is hung up on Lainie's brother is another compelling story.
  8. The line will probably be that evil Democrats shut down the government to help win. Voters didn't seem to mind, but the media will eat up every word. His next step will be insisting he's cutting off funding to those states, which he was already doing anyway. I hope they tell him to eat [!@#$%^&*], which he already does anyway. Probably media darling Elise Stefanik, who looks like she always got shoved out of a bed right before she shoves her face in front of a camera. That second one is the line I'm hearing too. The media will do their best to make sure everyone forgets any of the results by the morning. More time to remind us of how awesome and badass and funny Trump is.
  9. Those episodes are the most I have seen of her - I think she is in some of the Jennifer's trial episodes as she was working as a legal assistant or something by then. I haven't really watched those. Then she marries Carter Bowden (was that his name?) and leaves and shows up again heavily pregnant while Jackie is staying with her a few days before Jackie dies. They missed a trick never bringing any of her kids on to give Ross a headache.
  10. Jerry was so charismatic, yet able to seem like an everyday person. That's incredibly difficult. The only thing I remember of Lainie is the 1979 episodes where she was in the hospital due to her leg injuries, and she was in love with Ed. I always thought that was an odd choice as Ed was heavy in story with Holly and Rita. I assume this was just meant to be a schoolgirl type crush and Lainie would have moved on, but I'm not sure who the Dobsons planned to pair her with.
  11. I remember seeing Maggie's death episode and finding it very disturbing, especially the broken bottle being how she was killed.
  12. Oh right. Priscilla was on Sunset Beach. Sorry to both ladies...
  13. They even lost two public commissioner races in Georgia - the first losses for state (not federal) races since 2006. All those "the public are sending a message" pundits will likely have little to say about these results in so many states, because you can't ever go against dear leader.
  14. The same network that was ordered by their boss to stop talking about the East Wing because he was afraid it would hurt their chances for a merger. I saw that Abby Phillips, who always has the truly loathsome Scott Jennings on her show, was talking about how Democrats lost last year due to not having politics. Never mind that when Democrats share their policies, they are picked to death. Trump was right about one thing - the media system in this country should be broken and destroyed.
  15. Priscilla Garita couldn't really act, which didn't help, although she was alright. She seemed to be about the same when she was on PP AMC 11 or 12 years later. They did try to give Carmen some shades, but while beautiful and charismatic, Saundra Santiago never seemed to shake the brittleness. I would love to see Maria meeting Bert Bauer... I do wish they'd done more with Ray. He was around to the end. Didn't he have the hots for Catalina? I can't remember.
  16. Rauch's OLTL benefited from some very dramatic and charismatic females and writers who managed the camp and histrionics. That starts to falter around 1990, after S. Michael Schnessel leaves (probably not the only factor). I don't know Sonia Satra really suited GL, which had a long history of wan ingenues coming and going, but I think she would have had a better chance if she hadn't arrived just as Harley was leaving and if they hadn't been so heavy-handed in trying to make viewers like her. At the time I remember too much focus on her mooning over Alan-Michael and how sorry we were meant to feel for her. If I rewatched that time now, I may not have as much of an issue with her. I grew to like her more after Sonia Satra proved she could handle a big dramatic story with Brent. I just had such a sour reaction to most of GL in 1993 and 1994.
  17. They didn't. Martin and their serial killer brother are retcons.
  18. This is what always annoys me because the show will allow people to call Sonny out, but we're still meant to side with him. I don't even think it's nuanced writing, they just want to have it both ways. As for Laura, I am trying to remember if she became friendly with Sonny again because she regretted blaming him for Lucky's "death."
  19. I don't know if it's intended but it reminds me of how many passes he tended to give Carly. The biggest difference is he never really had feelings for Carly (aside from when they needed a reason to have Jason leave when Steve quit in 2000).
  20. The show seems to have very different takes on Tracy from episode to episode. They are always scared of getting too far away from Tracy as the family pariah or heavy. The show has made Brook Lynn look awful here, and they weren't even intending to do so.
  21. I think Laura Wright had some edge (and she became harder and harder as the years passed), but I agree she wasn't really believable as a stripper. I think the situation with Paul Anthony Stewart was different as B&E only wrote for him for a few months. He just happened to have strong chemistry with Joie Lenz and it gave them an open door to start focusing on the mob element, which is something Paul Rauch had also kept going back to on OLTL.
  22. Thanks @Maxim so nice to get to celebrate a "new" Christmas with our Bay City friends, and not far off Christmas. We could sure use that gift this year. Our last Christmas with Jim or Pat...at least we get to see a semblance of a Matthews Christmas here. Our last Christmas with Louise too (I still wish she'd been allowed a happier exit). @vetsoapfan I know this is past the time of the AW you enjoyed but if you wanted to see any of the old Bay City friends, I thought you might want to know about these three episodes.
  23. Oh that could have been interesting.
  24. It would also mean they could have Marco go fully evil to pair Brad/Lucas up again. I saw a promo of Joss being told to get close to her "uncle's boyfriend" and then her being friendly to him in a ridiculous manner. Before I remembered he's gay I had a simultaneously hilarious and horrifying vision of her inadvertently sleeping with him and Lucas getting in a slap fight with her a la Willow.
