  1. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/early-voting-good-harris.html Essentially, they are saying some of the numbers are good but may be a mirage, which may (or may not) also be the case with the Nevada info from @Vee . It's difficult to figure out how much is just Republicans who weren't voting early in 2020 but are now doing so or if Trump really is turning out new voters. The part I'm most hesitant over is whether or not Harris is turning out new voters, or enough to make up those who are lost to the party. The endless media focus over the [!@#$%^&*] McDonald's photo op and his crudity about Arnold Palmer, how this is a brilliant populist choice, have led him to dominate coverage and to Harris getting coverage more if she reacts to him than on her own campaign. The press is letting Trump run out the clock again just like he did in 2016.
  2. He did. I know the original long-term plan was Kelly/Nola, then they changed course when Quint and Nola became popular.
  3. I think they would have been difficult to write for (nothing about Quint would suggest he was a great idea for a long-term character), but the show doubled down on some even worse choices (like bringing in a ward and reshaping Quint as a scientist).
  4. Nola and Tony were probably not staying around long anyway (although Lisa Brown might have if Kobe and Long hadn't deemphasized the character), so the most she would have been left with was Jim, Bea and Maureen.
  5. I forgot all about that. Another story to treasure...
  6. The show doing a plug-pulling story reminds me of when AW did the same in its dying years. Not great.
  7. I think they are recasting Spencer as soon as Trina is gone. I share many of their complaints - the show doesn't care about Trina, I doubt they ever really did, and it's certainly valid for some fans to assume they are only pairing her with a black actor because that way they can have them on the backburner until Trina is quietly written out. With that said, it makes more sense than pairing her with Gio, and a lot of her fans seemed to hate that idea too. And it's never a bad thing to have more black cast members on the show.
  8. I don't care for all the chummy, elitist tones from Cook/Amy Walter, but this tweet does match up to how much these last months have reminded me of 2016. That year enough white women moved to Trump due to dislike of Hillary or going along with the lie that Trump wouldn't really go against them. Even now, after the fall of Roe, I am not sure if he has muddied the waters enough (with a lot of help from the media) to bring them back again. (for some reason I can't embed Amy Walter's tweets here)
  9. You're right; AWHP mentioned to me it may be the week before too. I just miss that vulnerability in Blaine alongside the fire - there's not much here beyond generic business bickering. I hadn't looked on Youtube for any 'new' AW this week so was pleasantly surprised something showed up. Finding those treats is the best part of being a soap fan.
  10. I do wonder what Marland's plans for the family would have been. Neither Josh nor Trish give any Dallas vibes for me. Josh gives much more disaffected Californian vibes. I also don't remember Josh and Trish being nearly as close in what I've seen of that era (admittedly not a ton) as the Lewises became after Long arrived.
  11. I saw this on Youtube tonight. I don't think it's been around before - not 100%. I think it may be from the week of April 2-6 but I'm not sure. Just a very short clip. (I do not like the Blaine recast at all)
  12. Canadian dead-end leftists on Twitter often have the most wretched takes. I guess at least this bozo genuinely supports Trump instead of doing it ironically. Speaking of bozos - you will not be surprised to learn how many are eating this empty stunt up. I have seen some on the left chastising Harris for not working at McDonald's as well to rebut his lies and stunt. They don't seem to realize that she would be completely humiliated in the media and public if she ever tried.
  13. I've heard other people say the same about Obama's comments (it's not really my place to judge the merits of the argument) but rarely in such an offputting way. He seems very petulant, online and in his TV appearances, and I notice as in the video above and the video I'm sharing he seems to rush to turn everything back to GOP-friendly talking points about how well Trump is doing on policy and the economy. This tweet is especially irritating because he very defensively responds to everyone who have pointed out how little he cares about Trump's age by...posing a clip where he does not mention Trump's age.
  14. Sorry, just sharing that as it reminds of how little effort was made with Tina's return (I assume Jacqueline would have said no but she wasn't even asked...). Feels like she is only back to be the "bad" foil to our "good" heroes. Tina was by far one of the most compelling Dingles (this is only in my opinion in case anyone wants to say they are all terrible) and I won't watch her return just to be trashed for the likes of Cain or Chastity.
  15. I don't have any use for either of them but it's not the only polling that has people nostalgic for the Trump years and now apparently even the pandemic itself. Times are hard now, but I can't believe people are nostalgic for that period. I think Trump is just such a husk that people, with help from the media, make him whatever they want him to be and ignore what he actually was.
  16. This is another reason Democrats seem to be struggling - that so many actually miss September 2020 says it all about how broken this country seems to be.
  17. He's done this over and over. This constant covering from so many in the media is one of the biggest reasons so many people just see Trump as fun and wacky, no matter what he says or does.
  18. Trump's persona of saying whatever he wants and this being "funny" is serving him well now that he just rambles incoherently any time he is in public. Biden never did a tenth of this but if he said the wrong name or paused for a second, they were waiting to put him away.
  19. It's some of the early voting numbers that are concerning me (Virginia, NC, among others). Hopefully it's just going back to normal when so many Republicans didn't vote early in 2020, rather than a real sign of a shift to Trump that various polls have indicated. An NYT article on the Arab-Americans who are pushing for Trump. One person in this who was co-head of the "Abandon Biden" group (later Harris) even has a selfie on her Twitter smiling with Trump. Just absolute scum. https://t.co/pocsopBPWF Some reports that the door-knocking group funded by Elon is partly fradulent. 20. Was Hope meant to be in college when she dated Ben?
  21. I think Georgia and Arizona are both a reach this year, but what reminds me of 2016 is the struggles in the "blue wall" states. I know Politico is biased, but the number of pieces about Michigan and Pennsylvania difficulties is making me wary. The other similarity is how many union members seem to be moving away from the party. A great deal seems to be down to misogyny, but Biden 2020 also papered over a number of cracks the party has been facing in blue collar support, losing support from some black or Hispanic voters, etc. So many also seem to have reverted to the 2016 mindset they had with Trump where they just make him whatever they want him to be and ignore his actual history and the comments he makes today (they also seem to ignore his clearly decayed mental state). We even have a new version of Julian Assange in Elon Musk, not hiding behind Wikileaks this time but instead using shadow groups to flood the market with endless propaganda against Harris. https://www.opensecrets.org/news/2024/10/pro-trump-dark-money-network-tied-to-elon-musk-behind-fake-pro-harris-campaign-scheme/ I know it's hypocritical to post these given what Musk has done to Twitter but the thread shows many of the ads he's running against her. One in particular, echoing anti-Semitic talking points that Doug Emhoff is a puppet of Israel and controls Harris, is especially disgusting.
  22. I don't think the incident in of itself matters (and it is also a trap, because the same people would have said she was laughing with Trump instead of campaigning in a swing state) but it's just another brick in the wall the media is trying to build around her campaign, which so many people seem to be falling for.
  23. I saw the clip of Laura thanking Tracy for being there for Lulu when she couldn't be. That was a pleasant surprise.
