  1. Who was TImothy? I'm glad Tommy Michaels was there - I still think AMC made a mistake firing him. And it was nice Ben Jorgenson showed up. I thought he did a very good job as Kevin. Another character wasted.

  4. October 1952 Radio TV Mirror recap. Many girls of eighteen manage to prove to their reluctant families that they are able to run their own lives. But Cathy Roberts is not so successful. Defying her father and repudiating, his affection and help, she finds herself involved in more trouble than she can handle. Will Cathy's problem be a decisive factor in the fate of her father's marriage to Meta White - the marriage so bitterly opposed by Cathy?
  5. October 1952 Radio TV Mirror Right to Happiness recap. Masquerading as an inmate of a women's prison, Carolyn Nelson went through dangers, humiliations and privations which will not be easily forgotten. But she would have done even more than that to help save her husband, Governor Miles Nelson, from political ruin, and to expose his enemies. Does Miles fully understand her sacrifice? Is Miles in some way changed toward her?
  6. I'm sorry about that - I guess I can see where SON would be tough to navigate at first. I wasn't sure if she was still acting. I hope some show will give her a good part.
  7. It sounds like they kind of hate everyone but Teresa and Jacqueline.
  8. I was so enchanted by Collins' brief returns in 97-01, especially the one where she came back to talk to Tim, and when she welcomed Harold. It's one of the reasons I was jolted by the crazy Janet return stuff - I really liked her as Natalie. Natalie seems to be just a distant memory now.
  9. I don't think it was supposed to rhyme, "truth" and "proof" aside. Oh the idealism of the late 60s and early 70s. It's one of those great peeks into a bygone era of soap magazines (these years also have "soap stars for peace", mainstream soap actors saying lines like, "I'd rather burn draft cards than bodies," and of course, the endless recitations of, "I believe in empowering women, but I'm NOT a feminist!" I think it was a mistake to kill Natalie off. I guess there wasn't a lot of story left for her at the time but there may have been later on. For instance, I might have tolerated Greenlee if she had story with Natalie. I could see Natalie trying to make some sanity out of that Fusion crap.
  10. November 1972 TV Dawn to Dusk.
  11. Galen. Something always fascinates me about Kate Collins as Natalie ( I enjoy her as Janet but it's all very one note). She was so regal and also very cut off from the world, but you can see the vulnerability. I also love her voice. To me it seems like she became more generic over time, and it was mostly just the actress playing against the writing that kept the character together. I wish I still had that old Weekly letter from the Collins fan blasting them for claiming Melody Anderson was better than Collins because Anderson was sweet and wasn't icy. This reminds me of the comedian who always wants to be serious, the actor who wants to direct. I think Genie really wants to be seen as a vixen, or a bitch, but every attempt to do so hasn't exactly been easy to watch. Erica meets Aquaman! Water fight with Mera.
  12. I guess in later years they just changed it to Erica fleeing town due to personal problems (when she worked as a waitress in Sea City, or that weird thing when she was a showgirl). So I wanted to ask my Natalie question. Do you think the character was as interesting after the rape storyline? I know Kate Collins didn't seem that thrilled about what the show did to Natalie and Jeremy.
  13. Erica was there? That's kind of like an awful foreboding for Erica's own rape story. I wonder what her dialogue was. "Ceara, you can't die! Who else would I have to show me just how out of style clothes can truly be!"
  14. Thanks for finding that. It's striking sometimes just how tough they were on Opal back then - they also disliked her friendship with Erica. It's a credit to Jill Larson that she made this work, as I think a lot of fans never believed Opal with Palmer. And there's more of that biting criticism of Ceara which I remembered when Genie was going around recently saying her Y&R writing is the best since her Agnes Nixon writing. It's a shame they got rid of Brainard and Van Eman after this. I wonder why they did.
  15. May 1989 episode is up. This has a lot of followup, and a few B-stories, but is very entertaining. The best part for me is we get to see some of the fallout from Hal, Barbara, Nancy, Bob, and Kim over the truth about Adam's paternity. I especially like that we see some of the stern, old school Nancy in this. Some nice Barbara/Hal moments in this too. Other stories feature Lily trying to play rebel princess. This story was done to mature Lily, but it seems a little silly to me. I do like the casting for the rebel, and Sawyer. Lucinda is wooed by Niles Mason - as we know, he's up to no good, but Charles Keating and Liz Hubbard have a very natural spark. Caleb has a meltdown over Lily. There's a funny scene where Lily calls the farmhouse "my farmhouse." Indeed... The B-story in this, cut off from just about everything else, is the feelings Nella has for Beau, and how this ends the last of the Beau/Pam relationship. Marland didn't waste any time at all in getting Beau out. I wonder why. I can see where he may have seemed superfluous (the canvas already having so many young, sensitive men), but the actor had a very strong presence, charisma, and it was nice to have a character who had no major ties to core characters. I also like the actress who plays Nella. I wish the show had done more with them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9DUPKkltqs
  16. Well at least it's a pretty photo.
  17. I thought they were still married. I guess that 50% rate hits soap relationships too. More like 75% with soaps...
