I mentioned that a while back - I think Gawker had an article on it. Apparently a few years later they met at an awards show and had a good laugh over it.

I know some blame John Yorke for some of the show's larger failings over the recent years (like killing Kathy), but he's also done a lot for the show. I am surprised Kirkwood would even have any power, after the whole baby swap controversy. Who was that woman who came from Emmerdale...Beedles? I remember when she was speculated as taking over for Kirkwood.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was, although I think, similar to Louise Berridge, he may have been happy to go at this point.

Thanks for letting me know. I will be skipping Digital Spy today! For quite a while, actually. It's funny - I was so wary of his joining Eastenders, and yet, thanks to all the endless hysteria whipped up about him, I ended up pitying him. I think his run on Eastenders was mixed, but never as bad as many claimed. Or even close. It will be interesting to see how many suddenly start loving the show since he's gone. Or if the disgusting trash Corrie has become will continue to be their ideal.

At least Linda Henry will get a chance to show her acting talent. That scene was hard to watch. I thought she'd already died...

I can see why Babs enjoyed that Jennifer version. She really does take the song to another place.

That is a very odd song for Donna's stylings. I kept waiting for her to bust out into uptempo. The overwrought eye roll makes me laugh a little. I think Jackee stole that hair for 227.

You don't hear a lot about Jason now - the last was when he was used as some pawn by the far right because of that Reagans movie Jim Brolin made. The duet is a little overblown but still great fun. The movie musical was just about gone anyway - there had been so many high profile flops. Carol Channing wasn't box office, and you could say Barbra wasn't either, but I guess she was closer. I don't know if anyone would have been suited, but someone like Carol Burnett might have been better.

I think she's been mentioned but there doesn't seem to be any video of her.

He was pretty good, overall. I wasn't watching ATWT at that time so have no idea who Sergio was. Maybe he ran the Sergio Mendes fan club.

I do wonder at times what some of Barbra's earlier fans felt about her 70's makeover. I remember this Pauline Kael review of Funny Lady, which was, really, typical Pauline Kael, where she, who seemed to love the Funny Girl-era Barbra, was dismayed that Barbra had gone along with being something of a camp figure. Pauline said that the same gay men who were in tears during the movie were later walking through the lobby trashing her looks.

Tiffani-Amber Thiessen was another name mentioned to replace Megan Ward on Sunset Beach when she went to make a movie (Sydney Penny got the job).

Those didn't show up for me. The soap magazines at the time made hay of him being #1 in some poll of the man women most wanted to see in Playgirl. I can't say I really get the attraction...
