Starting Over made me scared of Iyanlya for life but I might have to watch that. It looks hilarious.

Yeah, I'm already starting to see that. I finished the first disc. I'll get more soon. I can already see the start of the Nene/Kim feud. The feud feels kind of fake, so far (with Kim suddenly BFF with Sheree to cause drama), and the friendship seems far more genuine, but clearly this changes. I like DeShawn's party story, I prefer this slow-builder to endless hysteria and staged screamfests, but I had to skip anything with Eddie Long. That seemed to go on forever in the episode. No interest in seeing him. I hadn't expected that whole serious story about Nene's father. I couldn't tell how staged the psychic scenes were but that whole story felt very "real" for modern day reality storytelling. Kim constantly dogging that poor guy who wrote songs for her...bleh. It's interesting to watch her (although the kid party was boring), but she gives off such a skeevy vibe. I guess you could say they all do, but in the first season, they generally don't. Not so far, at least. Lisa's husband is gorgeous. They make a gorgeous couple. They seem very natural together and for the camera. I was endlessly amused at how their silly little back and forth session between the guys and gals suddenly became about Sheree putting herself in a 1978 Jill Clayburgh film. Sheree is this weird falling star presence, like a more sophisticated Little Edie or Norma Desmond, combined. It's fascinating to watch, because it's all so calculated.

I never realized just how close Nene and Kim were early on. I guess that's why the falling out hurt them so much. I actually enjoyed Kim when she was with Nene; the scenes on her own annoyed me. I laughed and cringed at the many, many references Sheree needed to make to how important/beautiful/classy she was, and having that forced scene with her assistant about the "wrong" kind of people being invited. I have to admit these delusions entertained me. Sheree is very charismatic, but she's also in some sort of fantasy world. I think I'd enjoy her more if the mask was ripped off. I like Lisa and DeShawn but they seem to be on a different show.

When the first season was airing, did people already know that Sheree wasn't as wealthy as she was claiming? Watching this and she's trying so damn hard, it's embarrassing. I actually kind of prefer Nene's hair here to what she has now. It's more the constant cleavage that gets in the way.

Watching the first episode of Atlanta and my God at Kim repeatedly telling the camera how she should have been black and she's just like a black girl, or whatever. No white person should ever say this. That plastic hair and the hilarious scenes of her talking on the phone to someone she was buying from to show us how boss she is...well, it was entertaining, I'll give her that.

Chris Christie, who the media constantly tells us is our savior and the future of the "sensible" or "moderate" GOP, isn't sure if he supports ugly, harmful, dangerous brainwash therapy. What a shock.
