Sherri's ignorant statements always disturbed me, because she could pass them off as being this loveable, hilarious person. Some of her views were very harmful. There is a fantasy view on this show of "liberal" vs "conservative" that also disturbed me, because they were all generally stupid and lazy in how they approached subjects, more interested in buzzwords and staring at the studio audience than they were in what was being said. I remember when they had an ex-gay on there and everyone, even "liberal" Joy, was prattling along, not bothering to say much to question him. The only one who did was Meredith Viera.

  3. It's interesting seeing some comments about Rick's actions with the hiker, and how appalling this is. I was sad to see how far Rick has fallen, but I understood what he did. I didn't realize that any viewers were still watching with the mindset that the group was going to be there to help people. I feel like this season has said the opposite over and over, from allowing that pipsqueak prisoner to be left with walkers (which backfired horribly on Rick of course), to not helping Michonne when she was outside the prison until Carl decided to help her, to not wanting Tyreese's group around. Carl is generally called a sociopath by viewers but he's actually been more helpful to outsiders this season than Rick has. They haven't done a bad job of selling the story about the Governor and Rick not being too separate in their mindset, although I'd say the Governor is still a much darker character. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onnkwWeEw-U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLh6TdBvNDw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdVQV7QjAIU
  4. CC looks like she's going to star in one of those naughty librarian pornos.

  6. You might want to check the Valiant Lady thread - her son was on there (James Kirkwood). I can't remember if any of her soaps are mentioned in the interviews I posted. I think they might have just said she auditioned but was seen as too young looking to play his mother.

  8. That makes me feel less pathetic for using all these. If you ever want to talk in any of those show threads I'd enjoy reading your views. Anyway, didn't Christopher Walken fill in for his brother on GL? Or did he not? There seems to be a noticeable age difference.
  9. Me too. Since they're all available I hope someone will release them someday.
  10. Yes! I'm so glad someone recognized her. I loved Liz Shaw. I'm so sorry Caroline passed away last year.
  11. I think LLB was a small child around the time Y&R started, as he named Lorie after her. Not sure about Laub. The soap press generally did seem to like Y&R from the bits I've read. It seemed like something of a bridge between ATWT and AMC, which were both very polarizing to the soap press. Sometimes when I look at Tom Hallick I think he's Tom Selleck.
  12. Thanks for reading. It's always nice to get these that are solely on the producer. I agree it doesn't look quite as good as it should, although from what people have said, this may have improved later in the decade? I think a lot of the parent/child relationships on the show were probably a fantasy, but the show knew how to sell heart in its first decades, which is what people want to see from soaps. I'm not sure I'd seen the Brock/Lorie photo before. It does seem like the show only needed about six months or a year to take off.
  13. Thanks. I think I've seen the accidental drinking one. From SFK. This is the rape episode, so be warned. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Djh1W5yhFY
  14. It's nice to see this topic discussed, especially in something that gets eyeballs. I don't think Andrea is overly strong, and I wish they'd interviewed Lauren Cohan instead, but I appreciate Holden's commitment to the role, especially learning she dislocated four ribs. The show always gets heavy negative focus for their female characters, whether it be fans who deride them all as bitches and sluts, or other fans who think all the women are weak. This season has come a long way from the somewhat embarrassing scenes of all the men gathered together talking about Serious Business while the women are there to be neurotic or scheming. There are a better variety of female characters who are allowed to be vulnerable as well as strong and confound people's ideas of what strength is supposed to be (for instance, is Maggie "weak" just because she broke under the threat of Glenn's life?). I just hope it continues. I like Beth but I did laugh at this:

I see Joy as someone who just likes to talk and talk without being all that well-informed, but then, that is The View. Good luck to her in her career. I think this show mostly became famous for loudmouths screeching at each other and long-term that isn't a great career move.
  19. Always strange to see episodes where Erica and Dimitri are so close (to the point where she forgets Jack is even in the room - felt a little sorry for him for a second). Too bad the show tore that all down. I'm so glad "Muckenmire" did not serve as a long-running nickname. Arlene seems to be dressed a bit less "sexy" (for Arlene) here, and more like someone's grandmother. I prefer Kendall to Noah but I did laugh when he said, "I wouldn't let you pet my dog." I don't think I've ever seen one of the hotel bathrooms on AMC. Have any of you ever seen one? Hayley's panic attack...Ripa doesn't do too bad, overall. I had the same reaction for most of her stories with Mateo.

  21. You didn't need to ask me, I just wanted people to know that you get the credit. I really appreciate the mention.
  22. Daytime TV gives ratings for the two weeks that ended on June 20. 1971. 1. ATWT 40% 2. EON 37% 3. Doctors 35% 4. DAYS 33% 5. AW 32% 6. GH 32% 7. GL 32% 8. Search 35% 9. LIAMST 30% 10. SS 27%
  23. Thanks. I'll have to look for that on Youtube. Morrissey is such a wonderful actor, he's made the Governor a very interesting character. I don't ever feel sorry for the guy (maybe when Michonne offed walker Penny), but he doesn't feel like a generic psycho to me, he feels like a real, and very disturbed, person.
  24. I don't think it helps that Phaedra looks like a Christmas elf on the cover. When I see her elsewhere I generally think she looks very pretty. I don't get that cover.
