Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
You have to laugh at promos where all the actors are recast less than a year later. I never knew Amy and Brick had their own promo.

Y&R: Old Articles
When I was watching some of a 1989 episode, they had scenes where Jim, John, and Scott told Cricket that they had given Jessica an overdose of pills to end her suffering. She was shocked, but grateful to them. I thought this was a little jarring - I don't remember hearing about this, and it was kind of a questionable message for the show to send. There were also scenes of Cassandra getting ready to leave the Rawlins mansion, with flashbacks of gifts George had given her. I'd never noticed how Nina Arvesen played Cassandra as girlish, Marilyn Monroe-esque, in those types of scenes. Great work from her. And her last look back as she left the mansion was heartbreaking.

ALL: Temporary Replacements
Richard Council as a temp Hal recast. I'd never seen him. He's OK, not that good. Don't like the Supercuts hair. I wonder what happened with Ben. Looks like he was in at least two episodes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqG4tOZgYac&lc=MGjV2NiqG4PhDW118EiCvTHzKFQPVdOV5OOC0g4TIVc http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0183573/

ALL: They Almost Became
Sam was a worthless role no matter who played it. It's too bad Marx wasn't hired in another role.

ALL: They Almost Became
Stephen Nichols was considered for the role of GH's Damian Smith. Mary Beth Evans told SOD that he turned it down because he had other projects; GH said it was a money issue.

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
That's surprising. I know he wasn't a huge star, but he seemed to work consistently, and he didn't have fond memories of his Eastenders days, or at least I got that impression. He's marrying a dancer from Strictly Come Dancing (former dancer - she quit the show this year), so maybe he wants money to start a family. I do like him, but I'm not sure how he'll fit in here. It's a good start that they aren't casting him as some relative or acquaintance of Dev's, which they have done with almost every South Asian actor over the last fifteen years, and which is a huge sinkhole.

Wasn't he Jack Duckworth's long-lost son? I can't remember. His biggest story was being involved with Sally and beating the stuffing out of her.

More whining over being called a bigot. Using people who now say they were wrong to oppose gay marriage as an example doesn't make sense to me, but I'm not the intended audience anyway. http://www.politico.com/blogs/politico-live/2013/06/ralph-reed-was-obama-a-bigot-months-ago-167393.html?hp=r1 Talk of how something bad will happen somewhere, someday. I guess they are taking a break from the "This will ruin your children and destroy your church!", at least on morning TV. http://www.politico.com/blogs/politico-live/2013/06/nom-lawyer-scotus-prop-doma-decisions-were-judicial-167390.html?hp=r2_b1
