  1. Thanks. I was confused because it looked like Carly was angry/hurt because she thought he was proposing to Camille.
  2. San DIego has another problematic mayor, apparently. Bob Filner is in a sexual harassment scandal. http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/attorney-filner-said-female-employees-would-do-better?ref=fpblg Meanwhile, after more huffing and puffing over the nuclear option in the Senate, Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell reached a deal on judicial nominees. Given that Democrats are at strong risk to lose the Senate in 2014, I imagine this was as far as Reid would go. Nate Silver is now saying he thinks Republicans will have 50-51 seats. http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/07/15/senate-control-in-2014-increasingly-looks-like-a-tossup/

Joy was a loudmouth who seemed to have no knowledge of anything she was saying, beyond one-liners that were more at home in an Elayne Boosler comedy special circa 1985.
  4. I call him that because he constantly said "man." The show was full of new people at this time, most of whom I wanted to backhand. I rarely watched.
  5. So were they setting up an actual Brad/Carly love at this point? I wasn't watching at this time. I came back a few months after this. I thought she'd always been pining for Jack during this time.
  6. There's Ben Jorgensen as Chris (not a fan). And Eddie Man (not a fan). And here's Andy. And this wasn't "hunky" enough for Lucy Johnson? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKXYpkTzuQg

I can't watch her. Not that I ever watch this shitpile anyway. All they do is defend bigotry and idiocy, and peddle garbage. I never got over when they had an ex-gay on the show and the only one who wasn't pushing it was Meredith Viera.
  8. That's great. I posted a video a little while back of her being interviewed about the role.
  9. I remember that appearance - it was random as hell. I don't even know why they were there, especially Amy. The woman who played Hannah (who seemed to struggle with her lines...) was on ATWT as a nosy guest at Bob and Kim's wedding reception. Nancy kept cutting her eyes and desperately trying to avoid her. Hilarious.
  10. I'd rather forget Yaeger... I loved Elizabeth Eis. She was gusty, and raspy, and so different from the typical soap actress of that period. I hated that Buffy just vanished. Trask vanished too - I think they may have said briefly he got another job. If even that. I guess Lacy was busy elsewhere. One of the best parts of the last year of DS was how the women took over the show. They had a wonderful, wonderful female cast (aside from Kathy Cody) and they were the ones who kept everything going. I'm just sorry they didn't use them even more. Virginia Vestoff had such chemistry with David Selby. Daphne was such a bore in comparison.
  11. The immortal line, I think it was, "Every closet has a skeleton...and BABY, COLLINWOOD'S GOT A LOTTA CLOSETS!!!" (as did Dark Shadows...) The parallel time story petered out toward the end and everything with Quentin/Maggie was dull, but there were some great moments. My favorite was the nightmare scene where Sabrina saw her own corpse laid out on the lab table. Lisa Richards terrified me more than almost anyone ever has on soaps.
  12. He was, but then, he'd played quite a few character parts, so I didn't mind. I enjoyed seeing him as the straight man after bores like Roger Davis had inherited that role. And his OTT acting when possessed by Judah Zachary still haunts me today. He and Grayson Hall chewed every last bit of cheap scenery left during that part of the story. My favorite stuff was Nancy and John as Carolyin and Will Loomis. It was like Virginia Woolf at Collinwood.
  13. Sorry to hear about John Karlen. He was electrifying on Dark Shadows, which they clearly knew, since he went from being in a punk, likely short-term role, to playing multiple parts, and by the end, he was one of the main leading men. He was also sexy as hell. I think KLS wrote in one of her diaries while filming House of Dark Shadows that she and Nancy Barrett both wanted him as a love interest.
  14. I'm not sure what Christian conservative causes means, and if it is a good thing. Doesn't he believe women should stay at home? Not only is that unrealistic in today's economy, it's also something that as a man, I do not believe he has any right to speak about. I see him as an opportunist. He endorsed Arlen Specter, who was pro-choice and pro-stem cell research, in 2004. That's not very family values.
  15. I never knew she was his daughter. She comes across as pretentious and selfish when she pooh-poohs her friend for daring to be a teacher who is worried about money.
  16. I still don't know why PP haven't snapped up PAS for some role. Scott Hoxby commercial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAcGfZdcv64
  17. Lou was one of the best soap matriarchs ever. Tough and mean, but also kind, fair, when she wanted to be, and fiercely loyal. Anna Wing always played her with vulnerability and sly humor. Lou's death seemed very abrupt, but was true to the character - her last scene is one of the most moving I can remember on Eastenders, or soaps. I remember reading that she later said she regretted leaving. Julia Smith begged her not to go. In the long run she probably made the right choice, but I do think they could have gotten a few more years out of Lou. I hated when they made Pauline similar to her, minus some of the warmth.

  19. I haven't watched yet. That wig scares me off. I was reading a Digest interview from the early 90s or so, about stories that fizzled out, and one of the people interviewed was Celeste Holm. She said that at first Jane Wyman was very friendly toward her, but that changed once she started more regularly on the show. She said she thought Jane was threatened by her. She also said she'd known Jane in their Hollywood years and she thought Jane was destroyed because she broke up with Reagan, assuming he was going nowhere, only for him to become President.

I hope it doesn't go to Jenny McCarthy. Some of the stuff she and Jim Carrey were doing a few years back kind of bothered me.
  22. People at Digital Spy are saying that Sasha, April, and Dex are leaving the show.
  23. Thanks. Never seen that.
  24. Thanks. That's nice.
