  1. I guess it's the lighting. Frances Fisher and Terry Davis look like they have consumption. (even after years it's still difficult to not accidentally type "Frances Farmer")
  2. Thanks. This article makes me even more upset that Kay Alden is no longer involved with Y&R. I thought I read that they did lose some ratings when they dumped the Fosters and the Brooks, but still, it was the right decision, and gutsy as hell. Frankly, it's one I wish they'd make now.
  3. Was Bob brought in for this story or was he around for a while?
  4. I saw this hilarious post where the Seventh Doctor tells The Rani, "You were the first face I ever saw. That means something," and she says, "Whatever," and guns him down.
  5. Those are interesting lists (dating John Mayer makes you a "winner"??). I think Lady Gaga needs to take a break for a year or two, at least. She'd appointed herself as an icon when she really should have focused more on slowly building up her brand. I feel a little sorry for her sometimes because she seems to need all of this to keep herself emotionally going day-to-day, not just for career purposes. That's why I think she should take a rest.
  6. I liked that photo too. I wasn't sure Marlena Laird was still with the show at that time. Hilary Edson looked like Ellen Wheeler there. Great body on Judith Chapman.
  7. This is a Daytime TV. I don't have all of this issue.
  8. What do you guys think of the Dean Winters character?

  10. I think originally RJ was supposed to be murdered, but they realized his potential. Here's the scene you mentioned.

  13. This channel has some March 1986 episodes uploaded. A few are already available on Youtube, but several, as far as I can tell, are not. The sound isn't great but they're very watchable. https://www.youtube.com/user/AsTheWorldStillTurns?feature=watch
  14. I hated Ten's regeneration more than I can say. I wasn't sure what to expect this time. The gifs look underwhelming, but that's just a gif. I just hope Clara gets more of a role soon.
  15. I haven't watched it yet. I know what happened, so if you want to give your thoughts I'd love to read them.
  16. Yes, they were both from December. I think what jumps out at me the most is how the 79 one tries to keep everyone together, whereas the 80 one is more comfortable using segmented groups. The attempt at a young, hip vibe in the 1980 episode, and the heavy focus on Morgan, is another noticeable difference. I know she was apparently difficult but I love what Kristen Vigard brings to the role. She makes me feel sorry for Morgan, even in some horrible moments (like berating a pregnant woman), in a way I never could for Marland's other characters in this vein (Laura, Lily). I do think that some years bled together, like Pam Long's Christmases in her second run, but for the most part the show just seems so different each year.
  17. I don't think Guy Burnet will ever come back, and I kind of hope he doesn't. Kirkwood consistently fails at any social issue stories, or any stories with depth, so they should just have Ste and JP have an affair. Ste's mouth would be too busy to sneer and whine, and JP's own stories are generally the same misery and "secret" again and again, with worse acting and writing every time.
  18. Seeing people claim that EE was brilliant again the first day DTC arrived, only to watch them desperately scurry around to defend the big ratings collapse for his first Christmas episode, made me laugh and laugh. I'm sure the ratings will go back up, because his brand of stale camp sells, but I'll enjoy the squirming while I can. It's embarrassing seeing UK soap fans essentially become starfuckers, which is the exact mentality that killed American soaps.
  19. One of the things that jumps out at me with GL is how nearly every year, especially 1979 to the late 90s, feels very different. Just looking at 1979 and then at 1980, and it's like a different show entirely. In some ways its amazing the show lasted as long as it did without any cohesion. I can't say I have any fondness for early Wendy Moniz, then or now. I preferred her as the complete bitch Dinah, not the vulnerable vixen. I did think her work in that screen test for Marshall Hilliard was softer and better than most of what she did on GL in 95-96, when she was a big reason why I stopped watching the show.
  20. Was that Neil Wade walking into the room with Penny? If so that was probably mid-60s. There's also a clip from around this time that is on the CBS Youtube site, where Ellen and David talk about how happy they are. I remember when ATWT was canceled, CBS put up a number of old clips from the 60s, including one of Bob and Nancy discussing Lisa's return or future return, one of Bob talking to a disappointed/distant Tom, and Grandpa talking to Tom. I just wish we could see more of this material.
  21. That would be nice. Anne still acts sometimes. 2000 was the year it got a lot of hype, yes, because of that piece of detritus.
