  1. I loved that scene. My other favorite soap dance scene will always be Michael Pavel and Delia dancing on Ryan's Hope. When Emily and Julie are talking, Emily says Julie has to tell her how Lisa Ann is.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50gIKf5W3cA The little moments, like Barbara's derisive laugh when Lisa says she likes Emily, always stand out. Marland really knew how to mine the tension and the ache with the Barbara/Frannie rift. That scene with Bob and Barbara gets to me. That hug. I really like the idea of Scott/Lucinda, and how he challenges her. I'm sorry this didn't go anywhere. I think Lucinda needed it. No man ever pushed her. The bit where Lily tells her about Julie staying and says usually Lucinda knows everything is perfect, not only for their relationship, but also because it shows how Scott, and the lies about Holden, are rattling her. 1992 destroyed everything Lucinda believed in, and I'm so sorry this was never fully followed up on. I love Iva but she annoys the hell out of me here. This is what they call borrowing trouble. And I've never understood why the show put her with John. The whole thing just drains John of any remaining edge he had. Julie was such a terrific character. She never had to dominate story. She would simply flit in and out and add a quirky, believable scrappiness to Oakdale. Who was Lisa Ann? Emily is dressed like a slutty Easter basket. Ugh KMH annoyed me in these years. Poor Hal with the land of the zillion recurring crime families. You can almost see Ben Hendrickson thinking, "What the [!@#$%^&*] is this? How am I supposed to remember who these people are?"
  3. The last half of this is a B&B snippet from, I guess, 2001? I don't know. Enjoy the last years of Hunter Tylo's natural, beautiful face, and the pure camp brilliance of Morgan, one of Brad Bell's most wasted creations.
  4. I agree. I guess we know that's not likely to happen.
  5. I think there was some interaction in 1987 when Alan dumped Vanessa for Reva. And some intermittent interaction in later years.
  6. Both Annie and Sonni had longstanding mental problems so I guess he was just another trigger. He was so boring and sanctimonious I never got the appeal. I did like him with Harley. Overall the Shaynes seemed stable to me. Roxie going nuts just felt like cheap writing.
  7. All I keep thinking is if someone other than St. DTC had done that Ronnie stuff, not to mention Emma not bothering to go to a doctor and instead just wandering around with a head injury, they would have been torn to pieces by fans. I'm glad the show has improved in the ratings but between some of the more desperate fans and the continued shock value stuff, it's tough to get back whatever feelings I once had for the show. Are we supposed to be invested in Ben vs. Lee? I think the only way I might is if they hook up. At least we'd get to see Lee close to naked.
  8. I hope people in the UK are sending positive tweets or messages on the show's Facebook page (God Facebook sucks - it's full of so many bigots and idiots), as they're getting a lot of hate for the episode and the horror of showing two men post-coital. This is the main story that interests me on Emmerdale so if they cut it short because of bigots or ratings issues, I'm going to just go back into my British soaps coma.
  9. So, just when I hope DTC is going to try to do something of value with Denise, he has her beating Patrick. If she were Phil Mitchell, Walford would throw her a parade.

  11. If that's the case, then why have none of the Republicans who hated Byrd said anything about Scalise? People who saw what Byrd did as a mistake of decades earlier aren't the same people who are even now insisting that Scalise did nothing wrong.
  12. He's the third most powerful man in Congress. That's far more powerful than anything kook and kookier can do. There are more to civil rights for gays and lesbians than gay marriage. Bill Clinton is a hypocrite and a coward, but he hasn't been in office for 15 years. Hillary never had any powerful role involving gay rights. Obama changed his mind and wholeheartedly began supporting gay marriage. I'm not sure what any of this has to do with a man who hangs around a hate group.
  13. No. So how many of them had other soap roles? Two?
  14. How convenient. If this is how he handles PR it's messy as hell.

  17. This is the interview I mentioned a while back. April 1985 Digest
  18. This is from an April 1985 Digest, interesting mostly because it's from that odd period where Brad Maule was fired and Tony was supposed to die, before viewer backlash changed their mind.
  19. Pandering to racists isn't something to shrug off. It shows that he (and by extension the GOP) are more than happy to cater to those views. He also doesn't seem to give any indication he regrets his views or that he even has any views. He struggled to even admit he spoke to them. What I'm confused about is who forgave Byrd. I remember the GOP hammering him time and time again in the last years of his life, doing their best to show us he was a racist and Democrats were racists if they didn't denounce him. How many of those Republicans have said a word about Steve Scalise?
  20. That's a good question. Later history would suggest that he was behaving this way to suppress his feelings for Reva. I haven't seen a ton of 1984 and 1985, but Billy seemed to be toned down significantly as a character when he returned to the show in 1989.
  21. Eric and that late 90's hair... I always look forward to updates from that channel. I thought that period of the show was fairly good so it's nice to go back and see more of it.
