  1. They're very believable as brothers, and I like that most of the time they all care about each other. I like how protective they all are of Finn. I think last year Ross and Pete fought over Debbie, which I'm glad I missed. I prefer them as they are now. There's a funny scene I saw on tumblr of the three of them at a wedding last year, and Ross and Pete start tickling Finn to get him to yell out during the "if anyone has any reason" part (they were just doing it to be brats, not to stop the wedding) Anthony Quinlan's a handsome guy. I always forget he cut it in his last years as Gilly - I still associate Gilly with the long hair. Speaking of Hollyoaks, does Andrew Moss (ex-Rhys) ever remind you of Alfie Allen/Theon? No wonder I forgave Rhys so much. I really do have a type.

Well, that would be interesting, I guess (I'd prefer her to the other two), but probably something they would have been better off doing a few years ago. What they need to do is ask themselves - what is this show, what can we do to stand out, why are we on the air? If their answer is, "It's because we're The View," then they got it wrong.
  3. Ross is the bad boy. Finn is the gay one. Pete is the one who played Gilly on Hollyoaks, and randomly yells, and who must have a big dick because otherwise I'm not sure why anyone would put up with that combo of tedium and aggro. The Barton scenes were very good today, although I tend to feel like Emma can't be around long, as much as I hope she is. She's just...she's very damaged. I have a feeling she's going to make a play for Cain, and I wouldn't be surprised if she sleeps with Adam and James (there are still clearly feelings on both sides), but if it were me, I'd have her win over Lawrence (she's a very lively, funny, exciting person, and based on Chrissie and Lachlan, I'd say the Mrs. must have had a bit of crazy in her, so that would be his type), and marry him. Can't you see her in Home Farm, clashing with Robert and Chrissie, waiting for Lawrence to keel over (as all Home Farm patriarchs do), and probably tormenting messed up Lachlan? I must say I was annoyed when James blamed Ross' problems on her. He was a lousy father to Ross. Moira was far more patient than I would have been. I think she knew that if she went on Emma's level, Emma would "win," (that and she's probably a little afraid of Emma), but Emma really got in some low blows. The last scene is very soapy though (soapy in a good way).

There are a lot of other shows that have women screaming or yelling or being ignorant, to the point where The View feels like more of the same. Joy was an idiot and wore out her welcome long before she left, IMO. Whoopi has tainted herself beyond repair in terms of having any opinion of value. Rosie just seems like a part of the past. I wish they'd just have the guts to cancel it. As long as they maintain status quo, the show will continue to fade into irrelevance. Knowing them, they will think the answer is something like hiring Brandi Glans, or Bethenny Frankel.
  5. As for Gillian, I can't see it happening, as EE isn't that type of show. I guess she could play Kathy's long-lost cousin or something, but I feel like it's too little too late. I always thought they could have done a story where she was in hiding for her own protection, but the Beales, Ben and Phil are too far gone for that now.
  6. I actually think Harry Reid is decent but I just don't know what Ben's point is. There's nowhere to take him. So, 5 years of Fatboy, long the ire of the DS purity brigades compared to the iconic Zsa Zsa "is she trying to talk? Please make her stop." Carter. What are your favorite Fatboy moments and stories? (or least favorite) Pairings? What would you do with the character?

  8. Thanks! Fascinating read.
  9. He was weak, yes. Simon more than Hulswit, but Hulswit also seemed to play Ed as somewhat of a pushover. Gentry, I can't judge. Van der Vleet - no. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing, it's just how some characters are. Mike was never really a patriarch either, as the family wasn't structured that way, but I think Don Stewart had the strength or heft to play that type of role if they had let Mike become the head of the family. Mike was more of a noble, long-suffering man. Ed wasn't. Ed let it all hang out (in some cases literally). Ed was more like his father.
  10. Ed wasn't a patriarch and never would be. They should have brought Mike back for that role. I think Ed and Maureen should have divorced and then we would have seen Michelle struggle with the reality of being a child of divorce. It would have produced more drama than her death, which was mostly over after a month or two of scenes.
  11. I'd say 1997 was one of the last good years they had. To me the show stuck a pin in itself during JFP's ego trips years (93-94). The show was increasingly about nothing but a vanity project for JFP's pets, with interchangeable, chemistry-free pairings, no heart or foundation, and aimless storylines. I could barely sit through the show in 1993, and in 1994 I held on solely for two storylines - Julie scheming to get Frank, and the Bridget/Vanessa custody battle over Peter. She even managed to make a boring muddle of Holly/Roger, the most dynamic and complex relationship GL ever had.
  12. The Charlie/Ben part of this is just more interchangeable EE violence (Ben getting beaten up is practically a meme at this point), but the part with Ben and Sharon is better. This isn't the type of life Sharon should have to lead. Under all that bizarre Shameless-style camp, there are a few glimpses of vulnerability (and of Letitia trying to act), but that isn't the Mitchell world. Ben is likely beyond saving, as sad as that is to say. I just hope she gets out while there's still time to save herself. She needs to burn those false eyelashes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbjVf39bl00
  13. Gotham doesn't do anything for me, but good for Gorrie. I know Vee will be pleased.
  14. Thanks. I'm glad to hear it's going well. I hope they paid Kyle good money to say that forest line.
  15. Thanks. Rolf sounds like a nightmare. I wonder if he's returning.
  16. Is this Jacqueline Schultz?
  17. That was nice of them.
  18. The Heather one is a model of restraint compared to Cher's ads for him.
  19. I had a crush on him as Charlene's husband.
