  1. I kept seeing the DS brigade saying this was Eastenders at its best, so I should have known. What was it? All the Carter family reveals? Was the acting from them any less awful? How did Lee's ass look?
  2. Thanks. I was asking because I thought I read something about him being charged with something - maybe I misread it. I think I've heard of that film. Haven't seen it. Someone was saying that Dan and Ali were mostly presented as the couple in this episode (with the Rachel story). I'd say maybe the show was heading there but I guess since they just had her marry Ruby last month, maybe not. Have you been reading any spoilers for the Aaron/Robert/Katie/etc. story?
  3. I'd never seen that. How random to have Catherine there with Dale...maybe that was who was on set that day. I know some fans have said the ratings had already fallen in the original timeslot so it was just going to keep happening, but the move does make me wonder if ABC had any faith in the show at all.
  4. Even in the promo they seem to be saying the move is a bad idea.
  5. Is that the one who used to play Daz? Or is that the other one from Shameless? I know they had to get rid of him because he faced serious charges, but it's annoying to me that Daz is never even mentioned. I read last year that they even had another character also nicknamed Daz. I don't pay a lot of attention to the Spencer story (Ali depresses me), but I did see some of the clips about Archie. That's a clever twist. Was Rakesh in the episode?
  6. If anyone wants to know why we will never have a "House of Commons style" debate system, here we go. The GOP heckles and tee-hees and then pulls pouty baby faces when Obama gives it right back. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/republicans-obama-jab-state-of-the-union

  8. Thanks for posting all this. I thought the whole thing with Earle's victims was silly stuff, but I wouldn't have minded some further exploration of it, if it had been done differently in season 3. I hope they find the coat. I was looking around on Youtube and found this gem from the dying years of the traditional variety show, when they all began to try to feign at acknowledging a counterculture. Andy Williams introduces the impossibly beautiful Peggy Lipton, and introduces his likely very, very confused middle-aged audience to the esoteric stream-of-consciouesness of Laura Nyro. The song is sort of a runaway train of tweeness, but Peggy gives it her all, and twirls like a champ. Bonus of white-clad, angst-ridden background dancers which, if we squint enough and add a flannel jacket, we can headcanon as Norma and Ed. (I kind of prefer this to Laura's to be honest, even if the arrangement is a mess) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DspN4T4NjHs
  9. Rinna said in her blog that Kim had asked to come in to use her bathroom before they left, and that's when she first knew something was very off.

  11. Really tough to watch the Bill Roache parts of this NTA tribute.
  12. Doesn't really have anything to do with Y&R...but...the start is close enough. Yonge Street always reminds me of this:
  13. I was reading up on this and Dodger is on the run for Will's "murder," but Will is still alive? What will they do when it's revealed Will is alive? The guy who played Dodger told them back in 2013 that he was leaving. I wonder if that's why they isolated him.
  14. Disappointed, if not surprised, that limited 'actors' who come across like Spitting Image puppets won awards at the NTAs. As depressing and ultimately irrelevant as Linda is, Kellie Bright should have won if anyone from EE won. She had much more difficult material than filling out a pair of jeans, making sad faces, and muttering "wot's wong L" 50 times an episode. And the only thing Nancy should win is a one-way ticket back to 1992. Oh well. Awards are rarely about talent anyway. At least Adam Woodyat remembered Anne Kirkbride when EE won.
  15. There was a story where she thought she was in love with her psychiatrist Lynn Carson (Donna Pescow), who convinced her that she was just projecting all of her feelings onto Lynn because Lynn had taken a central role in her life.
  16. 1993 is more hype than reality. If you can accept a lot of Justin Deas yelling and spitting in a bad New Yawk accent, you may enjoy it.
  17. Emma is such a wonderful actress - the scenes where she got sent down and Debbie burst into tears, along with the very tender scenes with Cain and Charity lately, remind me of how strong this unit can be when they are allowed to be human and not just drown in crime stories. I also really like Rakesh. I hope they'll give him something good to do. I only ever hear people complain about Megan and Jai, especially Jai (I'm not sure he has any fans). What do you think of them? I think the shirt with Aaron is so they won't have to do makeup for scars, but it's also an easy excuse for less intimacy (although Aaron and Robert have certainly been far more intimate than I ever thought - they've been stronger in that area than any British soap sans Hollyoaks, and most of the gay relationships on HO annoy me). A cynical part of me wonders if the self-harm story might have been done in part to help give Aaron less shirtless scenes down the line...(of course Danny Miller left not long after it ended anyway). You can tell this is where they're heading again and I'm wary.
  18. I'd forgotten that Lauren story. I'd blocked it out. Wow. What a joke that was.
  19. Thanks. That's the start of the Trial of Jennifer Richards DVD set. I forgot to say that if anyone wants to enjoy some fun scenes of Anna Stuart as Vanessa, those November episodes have them. I laughed when she was accidentally hitting Tony and Josh in the head with her feather boa. She really made Vanessa her own. I can see why P&G hired her for AW a year after this.
  20. Thanks. I wonder if they'd stretched out the Pat murder story a little longer how viewers would have reacted.
  21. I can see where the story with Devon and Wally and Betsy might get some interest. I think when we're young we sort of like stories like this that seem pure and straightforward. I guess Betsy just left town alone?
  22. I've seen it, but one thing that British politicians are able to do is to mouth off but still do it in an erudite way - they cut deep with style (I've also seen some Australian politicians do this). We wouldn't get that here. We'd mostly get idiots like Darrell Issa yelling that he's going to subpoena your ass.
