Thanks for telling us about the letter. Really glad to get the answer about what they are saying over the crawl. That was very considerate of them. I always just assumed they were going on about nothing. I wondered, if you ever write again, could you ask if there were any rules about how many cast members could be in an episode? With Dark Shadows, I think there was some type of rule...was it 6? I don't know anymore. And also, does she remember what her first scene was? (I assume she doesn't)

You'd think so (did they mention him when she was briefly pregnant with Alec's baby?), but the show has always struggled with how to write long-lost or long-gone kids of main characters. Hilda and Stan's kids, Audrey's son, Elsie's kids and grandkids, any child of Ken's not named Peter, etc. I saw that the Mirror wrote a very biting article calling for a cast cull, Sean at the top of the list, and said the show needed what had been done to Eastenders. I wonder if anyone at ITV will notice...

That's the one I was thinking about a while back as an example of Bet's range as a character. I miss that Corrie...even if the show at this time was slated as too miserable.

Valente put her on recurring in summer/fall 1995. She wasn't seen again until she popped up a few times when Behr was producer. 1998 or 1999 was her last appearance. I think she was in a holiday episode. I'm going to spare you my rant about how much Ellen could have livened up the moribund Emily/Susan/Alison stories of ATWT's last decade.

Does anyone know anything about the character Susan (Betsy) Giles? I see in a Daytime TV that she moved from Somerset to AW on June 25. I also remember reading in an early 1972 issue that she had been written out.
