What did you think of the producers after Stuart? I'd ask about before Potter but I'm not sure if you watched that material.

We lost so many wonderful people to that disease...sometimes it still hits me, on days like today. It's so unfair. As for Stuart, I've heard so many bad things about his OLTL run. It's unfortunate to hear he was the same at The Doctors. Sometimes I feel like daytime's only had a handful of good producers and sometimes I feel like they've had more but the bad ones are just so bad.

Sad... He did have a part in a Florida soap that never got off the ground, in 1978. It sounds like a lot of the changes to the show (changes that ultimately were fatal to it) that we've already heard about. A part of me isn't even sure if I want to see up to that point, although I guess I probably do (realistically I don't think Retro will go that far though). I remember thinking that he looked a lot like CC Courtney. It's funny that they did too.

Those Hallmark TV-movies are actually a pretty consistent source of income if an actor gets a foothold in them. They're one of the reasons Mathison hasn't had to go back to soaps (thank goodness...). And several end up getting turned into series.

That's great. Does she ever have any stories about her time there? AW was in such transition at that point and it showed. Gaining and losing an entire family in a year must have been odd.

I have a feeling they rewrote and possibly extended the Karen/Matt/Maggie story because of the recast. I don't know if Matt was ever supposed to be as torn as he was.

It may just not be your type of show. I do think they start to have more melodrama going into 1969.

I don't really disagree with any of this (other than Lydia Bruce - at first I think she was still trying to ape Bethel [as she was a temp] but in no time she really makes Maggie her own), but the Steve and Karen/Matt/Maggie stories all work toward something huge in the summer months.
