DAYS: Head Writer Ron Carlivati Departing Peacock Soap After Seven Years
Even though I hated the majority of his work on this show, he should be very proud to have lasted 7 years. Even creating your own soap hasn't guaranteed some Head Writers that long of a tenure. I loved Paula Cwikly's previous stint. She and Peter Brash were only fired in the first place because their stories allegedly were too expensive for the budget. Their only strange choice was the Gemini twins initial introduction, but I ended up liking both Rex (only Eric Winter's portrayal) and Cassie. I'm still pissed Higley retconned them to be Roman/Kate's kids. If they had been allowed to continue as Head Writers for a longer stint, I think the show would be in a much healthier place than it is now. I just hope her and Ford choose to write this show for adults again. I beg.

The Classic Film Thread
Barton Fink (1991) - This may be strange to some, but this was actually my first foray into seeing the work of the Coen brothers. It was fascinating to see John Goodman in this movie knowing it came out during the height of Roseanne. He was the best part of it, IMO. Michael Lerner getting an Oscar nomination over him seems strange to me. I had no idea where the film was going, so the twist with Judy Davis' character and the way the rest of the movie plays out really jolts you to pay attention to the craziness that then unfolds. And who knew this was the original "what's in the box?" A facetious remark referencing "Seven" that amuses me. Writer's block is no joke, man.

ARTICLE: Soap Opera Ratings for the Week of July 1-5, 2024
Oh, of course. I was more trying to get into the heads of what the PTB could be thinking. Could even be that GH could legitimately be potentially on the chopping block.

ARTICLE: Soap Opera Ratings for the Week of July 1-5, 2024
Knowing nothing, I'm assuming Korte will get a chance to prove herself on her own and these horrible ratings were blamed squarely on Mulcahey, which leads to the question of, how long will Korte get to prove herself. I mean, I know I have no faith in her, but it'd be interesting to get into the mind of whatever person is responsible or hiring/firing HWs/EPs.

Classic Cooking Shows
I'll always love my man Pasquale, the singing Italian Chef! Always so comforting, like watching your Nonno make dinner. Was he known in the US? An episode:

Going down a bit of a rabbit hole googling Brian Lane Green (ex-Alan Brand). Does anyone remember him being a good actor? He's a Tony nominee, who lost to Jason Alexander, and was also on AW and AMC. Seeing pictures of him, he was quite good looking, could obvously sing, and he came out as gay in 2003. I think it was said by Sheri Anderson or someone that the DAYS PTB had planned to have a gay supercouple in the 80s, and people speculated he was going to be one half of the couple, but of course, the network axed that idea from coming to fruition. Just one of those curious untapped potential type things.
