Does anyone ever watch Primetime on Daytime on TNT? Judging Amy is better than any soap on the air. I love it. Soaps should take a page from this complex, character driven drama.

I hated Judging Amy when it aired on CBS. Thank god it was cancelled.

I dont think its fair to judge primetime against daytime bc primetime shows are only 22 episodes done weekly out of the whole year. Soaps are daily episodes done all year round. The writers on primetime have alot more time to write and be creative and with so little shows compared to daytime, they can really focus in on stories and characters with less filler and pointless drivel.

Well I don't care whether it is right to compare them or not, but lately time is a precious commodity for me, and I by far enjoy Law & Order reruns on TNT much better than I enjoy any of the soaps competing against it. I have watched OLTL, Days and sometimes Passions, GL, and B&B in those 2 time slots from time to time, but every day from 1:00 p.m to 3:00 p.m. CST my TV is tuned to TNT and I watch Law & Order. I do get to see alot of the soap stars I love on there, just in much better material as of late.

Daytime has always been my first choice in TV viewing - has been for many many years. But in the last few years, daytime has quit caring about the viewer. Esp. ABC daytime. If they cared they would give us good quality stuff all year rather than just during sweeps. During sweeps we find out they can do it. To me if they can do it then, they can do it all year. They have before.

Daytime is something done on a daily basis - year round. The sad thing is that with the new advent of cable television, daytime soaps have to compete against primetime shows. Daytime needs to step up the game a little. They once knew how too, and I honestly believe they can do it again - they just choose not too. They have been satisfied with the status quo for several years now. Well it is not going to work anymore.

And sadly whether it is fair to compare the two genres, they do compete against each other. And many viewers each day do make the comparison, and they are obviously either choosing to watch something on cable or just to turn the TV off all together.

Just look at the most recent ratings. It is not a pretty picture.
