Because while sweeps matter to them they don't put everything into 3 months out of the year like ABC does. I give NBC and CBS credit-they both try to keep viewers entertained at all points in the year. Days has some good stuff this month with Jack returning, Bo finding Hope, Marlena/John/Alex so they will be fine. Days always likes to do big things in summer because, like Bree said, kids are home and some of their parents are to. Its a great way to get numbers and maybe keep them-and JER always does big things in summer. Sweeps are important yest but what good is rushing things in some cases and putting them all into three months and letting the show suck up the other 9 months of the year like ABC does. It doesn't help keep viewers or attract new ones. Sure the advertisers are happy but it doesn't help the shows themselves.

May will be and already is better then April and it will be a pretty good month. June though should have Days reaching new heights with Chelsea's trial, the big return, and whatever else is in store.
