Going back to Deidre's 50th: one of the things I love about Marlena is that she accepted Paul as John's son, with zero jealousy, and open arms. She wanted John to know his son. It was all love.

Thank you for the recap. I didn't remember all of that because I recall finding Will extremely annoying at this point lol. I suppose the assumption was that John/Marlena had discussed the Tori affair off screen before this and that's why Marlena had her suspicions about Paul being John's son?

I love both John/Marlena for always accepting one another's children even Carrie who wasn't biologically tied to either of them and Sami who was consistently awful to John.

Besides, Marlena clearly knows Paul is the best John child like everyone else does lol.

  • At this point can't we be happy Deidre and Days get some mainstream press? I found the interview fine and normal. The Today show isn't going to be a super in depth interview about everything Marlena

  • It's more confusing than usual because Christopher Sean looks younger than his age and Martha has looked matronly for 20 years to me, lol.

I don't think Marlena knew about John/Tori before Will showed her the photo of Tori on DiMera property (?) My speculation is was that she wouldn't have thought of John as the father, but she intuitively figured it out once Will brought it up -- because she sensed a similarity in vibe between John and Paul? I think? It's been 11 years so I might be remembering it wrong.
It's interesting reading in those recaps that Marlena went to Tori's hotel room and said you had an affair with John. Back then, I had interpreted it as Marlena just figuring it out then, but not knowing about the affair previously.
But you might be right, perhaps John had long ago (or recently) mentioned his Tori affair to Marlena (obviously offscreen) -- I hadn't thought of that.

I wish they'd get rid of all the gay storylines. Days really purs it on thick! I'll never forget the day tat Chanel and Ally were in bed. I had to forward through it. Sickening! They also showed a threesome between them with Alex. So all that, along with the farce, has me close to ceasing to watch Days anymore.

So, I assume you’re not a fan of my ideas? 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I love that all those relationships continue to be a part of Days. Doing that basically allowed John and Marlena to create their own core family

Christopher Sean and Drake have very similar mannerisms and John/Paul had very similar interests so I actually could see her figuring it out on her own by piecing it together. It seems like a bigger leap than John telling her about it at some point though.

Yes, Deidre Hall is still asked all the time about the demonic possession

For all of the incredible storylines that Hall's character has been a part of, fans still bring up a particular one the most: the devil possessing Marlena.

It occurred in 1994. Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) attempted to brainwash Marlena so she would fall in love with him. Instead, her soul became vulnerable, and the devil moved in.

Hall recalls using contact lenses to turn her eyes yellow – "That was not a whole lot of fun," she says – and actually levitating during the infamous scene where she becomes possessed. She says "Days" producers called in a group separate from the special effects team to make it work.

And while Hall says she hasn't kept much from her 50 years on the show, she does have one memento from that storyline.

"We were all a little excited and we all had our own belief systems about the devil," she says. "Ken Corday, who was our showrunner, had been traveling. I think he might've been in Italy, and he brought back a crucifix that had been blessed by a priest, and he gave it to me and we never did a scene without it."

Her only other pre-scene ritual? Corday also returned with holy water and Hall would spray some on her wrist before she filmed.

I mean yeah, I always enjoy hearing her talk about it but it would be nice if someone would interview her about, maybe like, her first few years on Days or something like that.
