Thank you for acknowledging that! Yes, from the time Bill and Dani had that talk in Season 1 about Chelsea being jealous of her friend's bat mitzvah because she didn't have a coming-of-age celebration, I started posting about the significance of cotillions. I wasn't expecting the lurkers to pick up on that and build a C storyline that culminated in an entire episode but I'm glad they did, because it was fun!

I will say to the BTG production folk who lurk on this site:

I actually remember a cotillion reference (before the bar mitzvah scene) late last spring or early summer, because I pointed it out in the fall when people were asking why they weren't referencing it. They were. They mentioned the girls' deb balls briefly very early on. So I don't think this storyline came from any fans anywhere online.

This was the best episode of BTG for me since the anniversary episode last year. Yes there have been good episodes since then but I thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish.

I loved all of the cinematography today. Lots of interesting tracking shots and camera movement in general. The dark contrast to the ultra bright cotillion was perfect.

So is the scene with Nicole the start of a C plot or just a story turn?

Could after all those fantasies she's been having and Ted following her? Is Nicole going to have a moment of weakness after dealing with her distressing patient and her and Ted sleep together a la one night stand?

First of all, congrats to everyone involved in that episode-director, choreographer, costumer,actors etc. It must have been a huge undertaking to produce under the budget/ time restraints.

I wish the cotillion had been the culmination or springboard of a major young love story. The BTG youngsters are recurring and supporting and I think some of them should be contract and involved in A stories.

And portraying the non Dupree families as stuffy and mean was too cliche. While the D's were whoopin' and hollerin' Jessica's folks and the Belleclaires were looking like they had brooms up there anusses.

Poor Andre spent a lot of the time taking photos. Was there a professional photographer in attendance?

Derek dying would be the culmination of a poorly conceived character (a fireman,why?) a DOA romance/love triangle and an actor who had zilch onscreen presence (at least, at first). He'll be gone and forgotten immediately.

Donnell and Samantha would've been the perfect choice. Him showing up just in time to escort her was one of my favorite moments of yesterday.

And agreed, about the other families. BTG does need another onscreen family, but writing them just as campy clowns with no purpose other than to make the Duprees look good isn't the way to go.
