Idk if this has anything to do with Theo's coldness or arrogance, but when Tyler was on Dishin Days, he revealed that he had the same acting teacher as Robert Scott Wilson... so maybe he learned some similar techniques 😂😂😂

Lol!! That could explain some of it.

I think it's time for some refunds all around.

I've really been struggling with some stories lately. Especially the couples we're suppose to be rooting for.

I feel the overall tone of the show is so much better than a year ago. We have more focus on Salem as a community with family and relationships focused more, it's just this cast of characters....a lot of them just don't gel together. Stephanie and Alex are dreadful, Chanel and Johnny are boring, Holly and Tate ditto. EJ being the major focus in so many stories is such a mistake, and the character needs a long break, preferably off screen. I think the whole missing piece of this BTS change has been not unloading a lot of these characters. I really feel they were damaged beyond repair by the last writer and no amount of change in story will make them interesting. At least 10 or 12 characters could have easily left this spring, and it would have really helped things on screen. The actors are all very talented and do their best, but no talent could make what's wrong with this group of characters right.

We need new villians. The DiMera's are no longer viable for me. Once we lost Joe Mascolo, that should have been the end of this family. For me, Joe and Eileen Davidson are the only two actors who could make the DiMera's work on screen, especially by the 2010s. Without them why bother. I've grown to like Xander, and could see him take Victor's place, but this whole Sarah mess has been boring. While I enjoy the actors together, I just think it comes off as silly. We don't need to see Xander in counselling to tame his character. If they can't write the character of Sarah to except him as he is, let that be the end of them. Give Xander a Vivian or Kate type character to be with. Someone ruthless with flaws. I actually enjoyed Xander and Gwen together at points in the past. Perhaps Gwen could take that place, with the right story.

I am happy to have Jeremy and Theo back. I like the actors, I just wish they were in better stories. I also like when Arianna is on screen, she needs her own story, not just random scenes with Holly and Gabi. I have enjoyed the Rachel story as of late. I've grown to like Sophia as well. I hope she goes totally psycho at some point, and stays that way. We don't need her reformed running around in some boring romance, with Tate and Holly whispering about her when they spot her in the Brady Pub or Horton Town Square.

I wish we could see more of Jada as well. I enjoyed what I saw of her and Shawn. A Jeremy/Shawn/Belle/Jada triangle could be interesting. I was disappointed Jada and Jeremy didn't go further. I understand the way Jeremy treated Stephanie was awful, but Ben Weston murdered multiple people and the whole Horton family love him. EJ did despicable and horrible things to Sami, Belle and Marlena had no problem with him at one point, same with the rest of his family. I am not sure where the writers are going with this Jeremy story, but I really hope they don't sacrifice his character in the name of Alex and Stephanie, who I feel at this point are in the running for the most fast forward worthy couple in the 60 year history of this show. Hoping for less of them and the DiMera's in 2026, though I am sure that's a long shot lol

That's a good way of putting it. When I tune in many seem drab and either through budget or not wanting to rock the boat, not many changes have been made. Once upon a time I don't know if they would still keep trying so hard with Cat and her family.

Right?! It's so wild to me. It almost seems like they are afraid to fire people, or just blind to the understimulating. RAFE, Cat, EJ, Johnny, Chanel, Stephanie, Alex, Leo, Javi, Tate, Holly and did I say RAFE. They should have all been shipped out the second the former head writer was given the boot. Most of these characters were front and center in some of the worst writing this show has ever had. Why would the show runners think the audience would want to continue seeing them? A lot existed before RC of course, but honestly the writing they received was equally horrid.

Just imagine in 2006 when they fired JER if they had immediately brought back Alex North and Stan/Sami and put them in front burner stories. This is kinda where we are at currently I feel. We need different characters. New couples. There are so many others who could be on screen right now. Paul, Andrew, Mike, Chloe, countless other Brady and Hortons. Bring back the Alamain family as a new villainy family. Bring anyone back at this point really lol It just doesn't make sense why were stuck with this bunch of duds.

Have we seen Theo's abs? Otherwise, I'm not sure what acting "technique" they're talking about here... drink less water if shirtless scenes?

Excellent posts @cody_1990 !

There have been a lot of boring couples lately. And a little too much Dimera. I think that all the ingredients are there for a good show, but Paula/Jeanne just need to use them more effectively. And yeah, a few characters do need to be sent packing lol

I’m surprised that they haven’t actually gone over budget, with the amount of characters we’ve seen on screen lately lol

Not yet. This isn’t Ron Carlivati’s show anymore 😂😂😂😂

As for techniques, maybe playing a character as smug or arrogant was one of them.

I feel like Days was always going to run into this problem regardless of writing. Days has done a horrible job establishing the next generation of leads. It has relied on Marlena, John, Bo, Hope, Kayla, Steve, etc., etc. for far too long. We end up at this point where most of the characters that get significant airtime are boring.

It seems to me the writing team is just too afraid to entirely revamp the show and are doing the bare minimum and coasting along with mediocre material. Because at least it's not as bad and offensive as Ron, right? Let's not rock the boat too much.

I've been saying the same thing for the better part of two decades, lol.

It is very strange. They have insisted on having 30+ contract players for years now. If they had less cast, they could up everyone's episode guarantees, balance the cast out more. Like 20-25 would be perfect. Have everyone else recur.

If you look back at the history of the show, especially in the 1970s and in the 2010s, whenever the show was at it's most successful, it had smaller casts. Audience relate to the characters more, because they see more of them. In 2009 and 2013, the show had arguable it's most successful periods since the early 2000s (ratings wise that is). They had smaller casts and focused on 3 or 4 stories the whole year. That's what they should be doing at this point. Have a few umbrella stories, that last the whole year, and involve the whole cast. But again, before that, fix who we see on screen cause.....😬
