I feel the same. Spixie won me over again in the last year-plus and it's weird yet typical how they've sort of tossed Spinelli aside in this already. Like Mac, he has raised these children for most of their lives.

I highly doubt Paevey can play a villain, but there is also just no story in the old Nathan returning from the dead. He never had much of a personality beyond his pecs. It all feels like a weird excursion grown out of their desperate need to find a workable romance and bigger story for Steve (with KT/Britt), which in turn has led this team back to indulging some of their favorite pastimes - the Obrecht clan, FV's clear lust for Paevey, etc. I'm sure CVE is in hog heaven with these characters, but it's already weighing the show down.

I love the more mature version of Spixie.  I know a lot of it's on Bradford's schedule and whatever Storms is doing, but the couple finally wasn't bouncing off walls with hyperactivity and weird nicknames and it basically became a D story lol.  Spinelli is finally acting like a responsible adult and father and the show cares nothing about it.

To me having Britt come back and then Nathan in a matter of weeks kills the impact, if that makes sense?  Sure, I assume it's connected, but it such a small group people reacting to it that it lessens the importance.  Great for Liesel that she has both her dead kids back, but have we seen her since she broke up with Scott a few years ago?

Thanks!  I remember people being sad about him dying, but outside of Storms doing some decent work with Nathan's death, I barely recall any of it.

It’s honestly just since last year I could tolerate Spinelli under PM so honestly I don’t care about his feelings. He annoyed me for like a decade or more.

@carolineg Mumbles is on today with the D.A.

Man, have they upped her episode count?  It seems like she's on 3 times a week.

Ha!  It's live for me right now and I was waiting for her to pop out from behind a desk or something when Michael/Sonny were talking

LOL. Well...forewarned is forearmed.

I do like Carly's only defense is that she's never killed anyone before and doesn't care enough to kill Drew now so she obviously didn't do it lol.  It's actually believable.   When Nina tried to counter such logic, Carly was all, "meh? It's the past.  No one cares".

I do think Dante's warning to Sonny was funny.  Apparently, he's the only one that remembers Sonny/Nina were once married.  Sonny assumed it was Carly.

-- Carly working the counter at Bobbie's continues to be hilarious and ridiculous to me. Just not believable.

-- I co-sign to everything said here about Kirsten Storms in the past 24 hours. I don't think any television performer "deserves" this kind of grace from her employer. She's really lucky, but we're all paying the price for these absences when Frank protects her with the writing.

-- Spinelli has been better in the past year, but do I want to see more of him? No. He was always acceptable when used sporadically, and regular sightings would be exhausting .

-- I understand the criticisms about Ryan Paevey, but I don't agree with them. Will he ever be known as "a good actor"? No, but he's not a bad actor, either -- not for the roles he plays. I think there's room in daytime (and in those Hallmark movies) for someone laid back and "sincere" who looks that good. I think he comes off as a "real" and genuine person in Port Charles, a town where we see plenty of showoff personalities.

I'd MUCH rather get the Paevey and Swickard style of acting than to live through the Tomas that Alex Alegria gives us on BTG.

-- A couple people here keep mentioning sweeps month and that GH seems to be ramping up for November, etc. Am I wrong that I think sweeps are much less important than they used to be? Do we really think soap writers stay up all night preparing for sweeps stories and then take off a couple months afterwards because sweeps is over?

-- Yes, there's still some "nostalgia" for traditional sweeps, but ratings services are MUCH more sophisticated with technology, and they can keep advertisers updated CONSTANTLY on streaming, engagement, etc. There's no need to laser on a few months per year, especially since viewer habits are no longer rigid.

I think it depends on what the show does with Nathan.  If it's some sort of brainwashed, villain turn it's going to fail.  If it's Ryan Paevey holding Maxie's purse shirtless while KS does the heavy lifting that is fine.  There is a place for Nathans and Chases, but I think a short format like Hallmark where you only need to keep the story up for 2 hours and wrap it up works better than continuing content for these types of leads.

Good points, but I don't see many characters on GH getting "continuing content" anyway. I don't see Paevey getting consistent lead stories.

So THAT'S why he is doing his Nathan story...to protect her job. Well...jk!!

I totally agree on Spin. I don't think I would appreciate him now as much if he was on all the time. Small doses work for me and can stay that way.

For me, it's too early to tell on RP (but I am a week behind and seen pictures so I take it Nathan is up and walking about). Just already some of us are seeing the anvils the writers are dropping which RP is playing. Some people don't see it at all in the scenes that have been mentioned. Personally, I can't wait to get more of a complete feel for RP when he is out of the hospital bed. People who have been on a soap, leave, and come back tend to have improved in their time away so I'm curious to see how I will feel about him.

Hehe. I agree on AA. Look at CS. I remember him being green, but he's definitely improved. And looked good doing it I might add.

Not speaking for others, but November Sweeps discussion for me has been mostly in the BTG thread for me. Here I believe I did it as a joke. Both shows however are definitely doing shifts in their writing. For BTG, I gave my opinion and thoughts why. Here...I don't have an idea why, but just gave my opinion and worries from what I've noticed in said shifting. With GH, when it has shifted...it usually isn't a good thing when they have a good run of stories so the worry.

I'm sure someone will correct me, but even with steaming all year around, it does seem like the ad folk are still very focused on Fall (if anything it's moved from August to September to late/September to October), November, January (now), February, and Spring (though I couldn't tell you if it's March or late May/June) now. In terms of shows, I still think writers write to that. And goodness knows we do still get online articles re: sweeps about what to expect for those months. So it still comes into some play.

I personally miss the days where it was fall shows, holiday hiatus, winter shows, may finales, summer shows, repeat.

Yeah, I think that is where I am falling on the Nathan storyline as well. And the anvils do not help. Unless they are red herrings.

All soaps need a good himbo. Just like they need a good cop, a good team couple, a scheme team, a villain/villainess, a vixen, a young teen couple, etc. You get what I mean.
