ARTICLE: ‘Beyond The Gates’ Season 2 To Feature 238 Episodes, Series Star Karla Mosley Reveals

Season 2 of “Beyond the Gates” will reportedly feature 238 episodes, series star Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree) shared on Instagram in response to a post discussing the show airing another week of encore episodes and why the series is the only one doing so while the other soaps, including fellow CBS dramas “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless,” continue airing originals.

“Yeah, it’s a bummer! I think it has to do with the number of eps shot because we are a new soap,” said Mosley. “This upcoming year, we are shooting 238 instead of the 200 we did this year. And the year after that we would start doing 250 like most soaps. I think they are giving us some wiggle room to ramp up to the full 250 as everyone gets their footing in this genre.”

“Remember, the others have been around for 40 and 50 years. And so have some of the producers, actors and crew members,” continued Mosley. “It’s a different kind of rigor. But, fear not, we are hot on their heels.”

As exclusively reported by Soap Opera Network, Season 1 of “Beyond the Gates” will continue to air through the end of 2025, with episodes from Season 2, taping this month, set to air in 2026. Further, the soap opera is roughly four months ahead in terms of tape-to-air and two months ahead in script-to-tape.

The increase in episodes ordered for Season 2 will likely result in fewer encore broadcasts next season, particularly as “Beyond the Gates” premiered the last week of February 2025.

CBS renewed “Beyond the Gates” for a second season in May, with the network touting the show’s success and improving its time period by +48% among Total Viewers, according to Most Current and Season-to-Date ratings data released by Nielsen at the time.

During the week of August 25-29, 2025, the most recent week in which ratings data is available, the soap opera averaged 1.539 million viewers, its best viewership number in three weeks.

Good on her for confirming this; people will still complain, but it makes sense they are warming up with new-to-daytime cast and crew!! Excited for the 238 episodes!!

That is such a great picture.

That said...like I just said...hopefully no more weeks worth of repeats.

We're definitely getting at least 2 more before the end of the year.

No doubt. I mean next year when Season 2 episodes appear to start to air.

Staff must have someone doing the rounds online to see what viewers are saying. An actor stating an episode order is usual to say the least, but clearly production wants to give viewers some assurances about future breaks being limited.

The problem for me isn't the breaks, it's the lack of communication. I've complained before about their social media and I stand by that. When it comes to casting, they never announce things in advance to build anticipation. Granted it's just a recurring role but Robert Christopher Riley was on a popular show (Dynasty) with a big streaming fanbase, why not announce when he joined the cast? Why not announce the Articulettes? They've even teased a new cast member but again, no announcement. They also are very odd with what clips they choose to feature on their social media accounts and don't do a great job of highlighting buzzworthy moments which can drive viewership.

Then when it comes to the two weeks we've taken off, the communication has been so sloppy and last minute which has led to endless speculation and people thinking CBS is out to cancel the show. How hard is it to let people know in advance and promote it as a "catch up" event?

I don't mind the lower episode count for season two but they need to do a better job of planning these breaks. Let the viewers know in advance and allow the writers to craft cliffhangers to drive interest.

Exactly!!! Especially that last part. It reminds me of how NBC, DAYS, and the Olympics would plan around their breaks in scheduling. And usually DAYS knew and played great cliffhangers for their two week breaks. And advertised if I remember correctly.

I had known from almost the start that season 1 had 200 episodes only because the actress that played Vanessa had gone on a podcast where she mentioned they were filming episode 60 out of 200 episodes.

What bothered me was the lack of communication from the network over why there was going to be a week of repeats, and I also was bothered by MVJ's dismissive 'That's above my paygrade' response when she was asked about this sudden decision to air a week of repeats during the 4th of July week.

To me, you're the creator of the show so you need to work above your pay grade because fans will be asking you on social media what the deal is... and since these fans are your bread and butter.. you better have an answer for them instead of doing the dismissive 'That's above my paygrade' BS line.

Karla showed that she cared about the fans by answering the question and explaining her theory behind why they only had 200 episodes in season 1 and 230+ episodes for season 2.   She shows that she cares about the fans by giving an actual answer (she answered my question about how many episodes were being picked up for season 2).

So I blame the network, producers, and MVJ for not providing reassurances and/or answers about what was going on with these out of the blue holiday week repeats.

Crazy that it was left to one of the actresses to clear the air.

CBS’s marketing push was solid, but their post-premiere handling of the series has been in keeping with what we’ve expected from them, and that’s not a good thing. They’ve effed up so much over the years that I don’t trust them. At all. And the Skydance stupidity only makes me side-eye them more.

It only makes me wonder how many of the show’s issues are directly related to CBS and their meddling or neglect.

I think MVJ's responses show that she is not in control of the repeats nor a fan of them, and was allegedly not given a heads-up the first time. This was all evident the first time it happened. So now she avoids discussing it so as not to bite the hand that feeds. Whether that's a good idea is for someone to weigh in on, idk how I feel about it.

I do think CBS/Paramount/etc. have continued heavily promoting the show, at least from what I've seen. But I do think not giving an earlier or clearer heads-up on the dark weeks is not okay, even if they have yet to really hurt the show.
