That said...yes, OG Britt/Jason was fine and mature. Part of the reason they failed (for me) was they started to write Britt as this heroine rather than herself in terms of that relationship (not her other stories) the last time around. It didn't work then. Cuz Britt...even back then...would have slapped Carly for stepping to her over Jason. Carly...would have slapped her back for thinking she could come in on Jason. Jason would have huffed

I saw it differently at the time. What I saw was Britt had finally lowered the walls, and felt like a man was actually there for her enough to share her deepest fears, and didn’t have the history to know that until recently it was still Carly first for Jason. She’s not Liz or Sam, she wasn’t there for the actual Carly/Jason days. She didn’t fight because she didn’t think she would win, and it’s better to run away than deal with vulnerability. I just wish KT had the chops to play that out to its conclusion now.

She will NEVER be Brenda. So them writers can back all the wayyyyy OFF. And I don't feel they have the writing skills to make it as fun as Brenda/Jason made it. So that means those 'wacka wacka' vibes I've been sensing in these latest scenes are going to be nails on a chalkboard for me. Eww. That said...yes, OG Britt/Jason was fine and mature. I don't think they are trying to make Britt anything like Brenda to be clear.  Or even thinking about Brenda/Jason's relationship. It's just the vibe I get from their bickering.  KT doesn't have the ability to make fighting or bickering snap the way Steve and Vanessa could.  And I don't even know what Britt has against Carly?  Like Jason had to save her and bailed on Britt/Jason's 3 day romance?  Jason has been nothing but kind to her since he found her.

I felt it was a writing choice then because it felt so abrupt and unlike Britt. Though seeing what you wrote, I could understand that now when I see it in that light. I do remember her finally being open and when Jason basically just dropped her...it was a brief moment where I felt KT emoted how Jason had just shattered Britt by her face. And then her walls snapped right back up and Britt kicked him out of her room. Even I felt how hurt she was.

It was brief, but well done. I'm not sure if she could do it now either to be honest. Though I've been loving their reunion so far.

Hehe. I was just picking on the writers more than you. I'll probably keep that in mind when I watch them though.

It's been so long I don't remember why Britt disliked Carly except for the fact that it was not too soon after she kicked Jason out of her room after he broke her heart that she found out he and Carly was getting married if I remember correctly. She was shocked and I felt it was just as abrupt as Carly and Jason realizing there were still feelings between them. Clear set-up for Sonny to finally come home after Nixon Falls.

It’s also their ages. I don’t think Jason bickering with Brenda would be as fun now either. It’s kind of how I feel watching Y&R with Nick and Sharon. They refuse to grow them up and it isn’t fun to watch. For me at least. But I would love to see a new dynamic with Brenda and Jason if she ever does come back!

One of the great all time what ifs though. They had real sparks in that first return, and I think she would have played out what became Sam/Jason really well.

I think it would play okay with Brenda and Jason even with their ages.  They've known one another since they were teens.  It's always been their dynamic although it could get tired.  We know those two characters do like one another at this point despite the silliness.  The Jason/Brenda what might have been is always a question.  Sam played it out, but it would have been interesting if Jason wasn't the endgame and Brenda went back to Sonny.  I doubt the show would have killed off a Sonny/Brenda baby like they killed off Baby Lila.

Anyhow, I wish Britt had the emotional maturity to just say Jason hurt her.  It's not even vulnerability to me if you lay it on the line instead of playing games.  I get Britt likes to keep her walls up, but hanging around in a towel yelling at Jason and Carly in front of people eating breakfast for an extended period of time is way more embarrassing and juvenile.

I don’t know. Guza would absolutely kill that baby. Especially back then, I remember feeling in that return that they really wanted us to believe Sonny/Brenda still had a connection, but Carly was who Sonny was obsessed with. It felt kind of heavy handed to me at times, but the writing team was so in love with Carly by then.

Lol.  This is off topic, but I thought Guza did right by Sonny/Brenda on that return.  There was still something there, but he was committed to Carly.  It wouldn't have lasted.  Sonny would always be drawn to Brenda. They did Jax/Brenda really dirty though.  I still can't believe Guza had Jax leave Brenda at the altar after EVERYTHING.

I like that Brenda/Sonny don't have a child together if that makes sense?  Their love for one another just binds them.  Of course the last return was like 15 years ago and not relevant, but it's more entertaining to talk about than Sonny and the random DA lady lol.

Just finished the episode. Steve sold that absolute heartbreak at telling Tracy perfectly.

Willow is so damn transparent, I hope someone pays off the next judge too.

I agree about Steve/Jason telling Tracy.  It felt right.

Willow is such a looney idiot and I love that for her lol.

I hope we get to see Jason really struggle with all the time he spent away from the family now that he’s lost pretty much all of the adults outside of Ned and Tracy. He’s essentially one of the elder Quartermaines now.

Drew is such a prick now will he even care about Monica dying?

That's why we don't even need Britt.  Jason being entirely without immediate family is a great story.  His only family (besides cousins and aunts) is Drew and his kids.  That's way more interesting than anything Jason has played in years.

Drew will care about Monica dying, but he'll probably just use it to manipulate Willow into marrying him or something.  Willow is such a prize, you know lol.
