-- I'm just going to handwave the entire backstory as to how this money was in a trust fund for Leslie, including why none of it was spent.

-- And I'll say AGAIN that the writing for Ted does not work. Why did they recast if all they planned to make nuTed CLUELESS AF as to how to talk to Nicole and win her back?

After Peaches explanation today, I pretty much said the same thing. I settled to the idea they just want to make Leslie rich and they are trying to expedite it for whatever reason without crafting a very logical story.

This man has been with Nicole for 30 years and doesn't even know how to approach her. The number of times someone else has convinced Ted to talk to Nicole for him to allow her to shut in down without a fight is embarrassing. Like do you want your wife back or not?

I agree. But they're intentionally writing him this way, right? I don't get it.

In the first months of the show, we were given a loving, caring Ted who was all about showing Nicole all levels of love language. Then we get a recast...and nothing.

Wait... is Peaches really sick?   Or did she hear about the inheritance and decided to glom onto Leslie now?

Terminally ill Peaches leaves Leslie and goes right to Uptown for a martini? Uh....OK.

back in the day, that was called ‘taking the character in a new direction.’

but it usually happened after the original actor had been off the canvas for while. why they decided to recast in the middle of a storyline will forever by a mystery.

this is the first soap i’ve ever watched from the very beginning. i know it’s been years, but does anyone recall another soap having these kinds of growing pains?

I'm curious as to what some of this board's theories are about Madison speaking to Nicole.

My theory is that scene was strictly a (lame) attempt by the breakdown writer to summon Nicole & Vanessa to Uptown.  The purpose of their visit to Uptown really seemed to be (1) for Vanessa to put the kibosh on Doug's plan to expose Joey, causing Detective Jacob to hit yet another bewildering dead-end in his pursuit of Marcel Malone & Joey, and (2) for Nicole to wiggle her cute ass in front of Ted, then shoot him down again.

Madison basically seemed to be flapping her trap about next-to-nothing, as if she thought a therapy session in a (green) bar would be somehow helpful to her mental wellbeing.

Granted running Laura off the road and spiking her IV with potassium was bad but thats the worse that Leslie has done. She largely comes across as a nuisance to the town and her biggest offense is being annoying. She's not really doing anything to anyone besides throwing slick shade here and there. In terms of soap villians, she aint no where near the level that some are bringing into the discussioin

So attempted murder? Twice?

I thought this at first, but I think they addressed it adequately today. Last week it seemed like they were saying the money has been sitting there for 50 years or however old Leslie is, which was bugging me because Barbara's family was poor and needed the money at the time. Today Peaches (is this her actual name?) said the money actually did pass through to Barbara's heirs, and it has now reached the last person in the line, Barbara's sister who I guess died childless, so Leslie is the only heir. So the family did receive and, presumably, spent the money, but whatever interest it earned plus Anita replenishing the funds every six months means there's still plenty left (but maybe it's enough to be comfortable but not mega rich, we'll see where they go with that).

Do they really need to have some reasonably young woman in this old lady wig? Because that is what it looks like. The talent pool in ATL is not that thin. It's giving when they turned Tara Martin into Granny Moses on

I need someone with photoshop skills to put that wig on Samantha.

Texas and Santa Barbara come to mind.

As for Leslie, I'm find with her being an antagonist, scheming etc. But it needs to be paced and balanced. If she's continually annoying people and trying to ruin their lives and they put up with it, then no thanks.

eg Phyllis and Victor on Y&R. After the stunts they've pulled, for people to even speak to them is nonsensical and makes everyone look bad. How many years did viewers call for Phyllis to be charged over her hit and run? When they finally revisited that, she came out the victor.

Leslie should not be an outright villian. A villian should have a limited shelf life, which in soap terms can be up to a few years, providing there is an ultimate punishment.I guess we'll have to put aside the hit and run and attempted poisoning if Leslie is to stay.

Same. I would need so form of pushback. And of course, comeuppance in some form.

And oh God, yes. People were talking about Giggly Heffa for DECADES to pay for the hit and run. So when the hit and run came back in play (complete with promos/tv spots), I remember people actually being excited. Heck I was excited. For her to get off, yeeeah smh.

I don’t see the problem with this. If she’s terminally ill, she’s not expecting to live so why not live it to the best of her abilities. Now’s not the time to deny herself a drink

Not only did she get off, the writing was so slanted they actually tried to paint Christine in the wrong for even daring to pursue this.
