The truth is like somebody else said above: Nobody is gonna remember in 6-9 months. That's just how it goes with actors who get dumped early from a soap.

I would not be surprised if they wanted someone less warm or sympathetic for Ted given the story but I really have no idea. Nor have I seen Robinson before, who may be lovely and charming.

What's funny is that few people will remember that Ted was played by another guy by the end of the year as that's how the soap business rolls.

I disagree. You can see that today just by taking a lurk in the many Canceled show threads, lots of fans (including myself) still talk about the actor they preferred in a recast role regardless of how short-term it was.

But did a short-term actor getting recast materially hurt those shows? Generally, no.

This is how I see it - Maurice is choosing to be ambiguous in his posts on social media. And what happens is predictable - ambiguous things can then be interpreted into fake stories. Like the one about Daphnee... that he came in to deny. And I'm already seeing the wave of ungrateful toxicity towards production, MVJ... on social media. I'm not saying Maurice doesn't have a right to do this (post about his experience and communicate with his fans) - he has... BUT... he should be aware that some of the people in MAGA-X are unhinged and will spin everything he posts. And yeah... that sheet was very strange choice. This is such a storm in a teacup moment. A hot... turtle-neck... wearing storm. 😈

No offense to the work Errol, Toups and everyone else puts into this board, but we count as "the few" as this is a fairly niche soap opera message board. Add that Keith D Robinson has quite a resume - and no disrespect against Maurice Johnson - but it wouldn't surprise me if he does well and even better in the role.

That's subjective! Sometimes it does especially in primetime.

And if people do throw tomatoes at Robinson simply for taking a job, then it'll only prove the point that "fans" on social media are morons and should not be catered to at all.

It is what it is and it's not the first time fans hated on a newcomer after their favorite was dismissed.

Just because someone has a bigger resume does not make them better.

Consider me impressed by the power of a turtleneck. I saw ONLYE 2-3 scenes in which he was interesting... I wasn't aware that there were people on MAGA-X that already had posters with Ted on their walls and are now... in such a hysteria... that they will need medication or sign a petition to get him back in the turtleneck.

Maybe I'm getting less gay... and more middle-aged. But I didn't care when I heard the news the first time... and I still don't. (that there is a new actor) BUT I care about people who don't deserve hate getting dragged into it. I DON'T LIKE THIS. Especially since this is a young fresh show... and it's too early to be so petty and toxic towards the people who create it. AND we don't know who did what and what triggered this... Period.

Well, we'll just have to wait and see? ;)

The truth is that I don't think Maurice Johnson has done badly in the role so far, but he's also far from a breakout star. He's ok. But we simply do not know how things will look at the end of the first 13 episode cycle - the green newbies could've started outpacing him for all we know and he might've been given more complex material than he's gotten so far that he couldn't portray to their satisfaction.

I mean, we'll just have to wait at this point and see if there's something that Keith D Robinson brings out in Ted that just isn't present in Maurice Johnson's portrayal. As has been speculated - maybe he just simply made Ted too sympathetic, thus the entire revenge saga with Silkpress Sheila just ended up entirely one-sided.

NOW if they recast Silkpress... then I'm off to the streets protesting. COUNT ON THAT.🤣

Why? That's the business. Just another day on a soap opera set.🤷🏾‍♂️

@te. I have no problem waiting it out. I know what Keith is capable of because I have seen the majority of his resume.

I was joking...  🤣

I just don't understand the thought process. Most shows wait to see how a new character goes over with the audience to decide to recast or write them off etc unless it's BOLD, YR GH then they keep them around forever LMAO
