I thought today was cute 6/10

I am intrigue by EJ and Rafe working together.  It is nice to see Rafe compromising his morals a little, now that he's not a cop.  Speaking of which, where's JJ, and why hasn't he showed up for his first day of work?

Also, Shawn's excuse to see Belle was lame, given his position on the force.  But, I like the Marlena/Belle energy.  Marlena treats Belle like more of an adult than she ever did with Sami.  Perhaps that's because Belle is thought of as less of a screw-up.  Although arguably, Sami is more accomplished.

We also need more than vibes for Jada to suspect something is wrong with Rafe.  She needs to do a little detective work.  I want to see her process when solving a crime.  I wish that they would write more about her training, and make her ability to see things others can't see due to her cultural upbringing, and her intelligence.

Fair warning, today was not good.

A complete Body&Soul/Lady Whistleblower day. And a bullshit Jamey episode. Seriously, I hate this man. Hedda Hopper? Spaulding-Lewis bank? Kerry revealed as Lady Whistleblower?

April 24th can’t get here soon enough. Hopefully, the new writers rein him in or toss him out with the rest of the garbage.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but even Abe needed to get hit today. It’s like I’m watching a completely different character, and not the one that I have nearly 30 year old memories of. James Reynolds is rising up pretty high on Ron’s list of apologies.

And yeah, still no sympathy for Leo. He’s getting exactly what he deserves and making him look like a creepy stalker, (idk if that’s the writing or Greg Rikaart) isn’t gonna make us have sympathy for him either.

Neither is setting Kerry up to fail. Derek Yates just landed on the apology list. And seriously, if he was away visiting family, how the f*ck did he find out about Joy and Alex? Especially since they haven’t told anyone yet that they had sex. Is it really that hard to write a script/breakdown that’s actually logical?

Btw @Soapsuds, they used your phrase, “sex on a stick”

I am actually not surprised Kerry is lady whistleblower.  There was a scene a few weeks ago with Javi, Kerry, and Leo at the Pub and he was acting weird.  It definitely gave me a vibe he was a possible suspect.  It's still a silly move because Kerry is so inconsequential, but I think there was a tiny bit of groundwork laid for this "twist".

Today's episode was awful.

I had a feeling from the beginning that Kerry was Lady Whistleblower.

Did anyone catch the GL nod? Spaulding/Lewis or something like that.

@AbcNbc247 Yes, I caught that sex on a stick comment. I want to get paid!

Horrendous.

-- Does anyone think Leo is capable of writing a bible for a soap opera?

-- And Chanel needs therapy. Ending her marriage and her career over a kiss? Yeah, I'm downplaying what happened, but it's insane to jump to "IT'S OVER!" based on what happened.

-- Kerry as Lady Whistleblower is interesting for 5 seconds. Not only has the guy not been around for the stuff he writes about, but the overriding question is why ANYONE outside of Salem care about ANY of this. Deau Moix he ain't.

It’s not just a kiss. Johnny cheated and then lied and played in her face for months. Why would she trust him? He not only lied, he roped multiple people into his lie all because he convinced himself his wife cheated on him. Where is the trust in that marriage?

Yes Chanel you would be and should be sued for quitting. You have a contract. Abe and Kate should not let her out

Lady Whistleblower is dumb so it being Kerry someone who has done like 5 episodes makes sense

    • I found the reference in the AWHP synopses -- it was 1995 but not directly related to the loanshark.

    • One of the dumbest situations (Lando) ever. What audience member is going to invest in a storyline with a recast they don't like and a triangle where one character is short-term? It bombed as it should have done. So much of JFP's tenure just reeks of desperation. I don't get how someone could produce SB (which did have flaws but was often brilliant) but make so many terrible mistakes at GL.   I still think JFP would have worked better as a director and music supervisor. Her music work at SB was top notch.  It just seems that Rea was minimized during JFP's tenure because I can't imagine her okaying so many of these casting choices.

    • We see the same with GH, where Mark Teschner, the casting director, reportedly has less say since Frank Valentini took over. Some producers want to take over every aspect of their shows.  I think Lando may have been a CBS push.
    • No idea but she won Emmys & she was the Casting Director at the same time for both ATWT & GL. She hired Lisa Brown with no job for her. Then Marland made Brown his muse so he created both Iva & Nola for her. But, I think we know that Jill does what Jill wants.
    • I did notice a decline in the quality of the performers being cast once Betty R vacated/retired from her position. We would have been spared from the nightmares of some of the castings that dominated the show in the last decade or so of the soap. JFP was an example of someone, no matter the gender, who had no business being in the position they were in.
    • If Betty Rea was the casting director, why was so much of GL during JFP's reign cast by her? Walker, Deas, Crampton, Lando, etc. JFP takes credit for Dusay as well. What is the point of having a casting director, if you don't let her do her job? What happened when Rea left?
    • So much on here slips my mind but this is the first I remember hearing of Peterson's passing. Very sad. Nell was a thankless role, clearly set up for a cheating storyline with Frank, but Peterson did her best.  Betty Rea Rea was the casting director for the soap opera “Guiding Light” from 1970 to 1996 and simultaneously the casting director for “As the World Turns” from 1979 to 1983.
