Oooo I know Drew did not lie to Nina's face. Smh. So we are really and truly going to paint Drew all the way black hat now, huh? I guess it shows how much the two of them have fallen off that he would even do so. Still...nice to see Nina I guess.

I thought it was a good episode. Definitely a Monday episode as the New/Old Writers were setting up for the week. There was so much good going on.

We know that I have enjoyed the slow development of the rift between Molly and TJ. Given him forgetting her birthday and so did Alexis, I wonder if the birthday thing will grow into something bigger? I also love Molly/Ric scenes so I really loved all of that. And Ric vs Alexis...OH, YES. His timing sucked, but that is Ric for you. lol.

Awww at the Rocco/Danny scene. I thought the Danny actor did okay, but yes, there were times he did look like he might bust into laughter at any moment. Except for the last scene where Danny goes off on Lucas. He did good. He just needs to focus that. Meanwhile, I felt the actor playing Rocco definitely had more presence than him. If anything, I felt it has really grown from each time he had appeared on screen. So his acting ability IS growing. But it definitely does feel like with this and the Drew/Nina scenes that they are building up a new drama involving the kids, Drew, and Jason. That I like.

Oh, look Lucky is mixing in with Brennan. Another reason to keep Brennan around. Not to mention Lucky.

There was not anything Alexis did not do that was not true to life for me. Even the deflection onto Ric.

And darn if NLG does not stay resonating. And it does seem like the writers have the focus of this week back on Sam's death, and it clearly was the case here. The build-up this episode was very well-done. No quick cuts to be hip, but everything building across scenes.

I will always be here for giving Dante a hug. DZ stay selling it.

Hehe at Maxie. But she ain't wrong about the leather.

I like seeing so much Trina. But I'm not sold on Kai yet. Too forced. But at least Kai is trying.

Don't you dare jinx Ric like that!!!lol.

I honestly hope they let Drew ride this out. I enjoyed Ava's return to being a femme fatale during PM's run so if they are going to lean into this with Drew, I'm here for it. Since the Nina/Drew/Willow triangle is not going where it SHOULD have gone, it appears to be the only organic way to go with Drew. At least, it built off of what's been seen on screen I guess.

Hmmm...the funny thing about that with Jason...is that out of the three...he is slowly becoming the only one with interesting possibilities for story right now.

Hehe. Good to see you came around.

If Alexa spends the rest of this week sharing scenes just with Cyrus Imma riot.

Or worse, we'll get the Frank/Chris/Korte special. Just like Lucky in Africa, it’ll be a month of Lulu trying to get out of this hospital and playing gin rummy with the nurses til Jason inexplicably shows up to bust her out instead of her actual family. Stay tuned for January 2025, when Jason helps rescue James' new dog from a fight ring.

Laura didn't find out Cyrus and Martin were her brothers until just before Christmas 2020, while the explosion which put Lulu in the coma was just after Halloween, so Lulu didn't know Cyrus was her uncle. Cyrus did know that Lulu was his niece having found out shortly after first coming to town earlier that year but their family connections weren't revealed to the audience until Laura found out.

Lulu ended up in the coma after an explosion at The Floating Rib. Cyrus had wanted to kill Jason and was able to blackmail Julian Jerome into carrying out the deed as he had come into possession a letter that Nelle had written which detailed Julian's involvement in covering up the Wiley baby switch. Julian delivered an explosive package to the Floating Rib and detonated it remotely but Jason (and Danny) had already left the restaurant.

Oh my God. That...

I'm not going to lie. It got me in my feels. And to see so much of the town at her funeral...I was surprised. There would be moments that I pick someone new out from the crowd. And I would be like oh.

That was a well-done funeral. The finality of it all. From the monologues to the flashbacks...btw YAAAAYYY flashbacks...just to the general feel throughout the episode. I admit I was surprised to see the Slap Heard Around the Word, but yet that did summarize Carly and Sam's relationship.

Highlights for me speech wise was Spin's, Liz's (I had to rewind it was so good, tears be damned), Dante's, Rocco's, and of course Alexis's. They were all good, but these really resonated with me. Spin's flashback...and look at him and Maxie now. Liz's...because as much as I loved Liz and Sam as rivals...their friendship really did grow organically...moreso than Carly's. Mad respect for that. Dante's because DZ who sells the sadness and summarized his and Sam's relationship so beautifully and his parting words...DZ sold the love. Rocco's...FC sold it. Alexis's...I felt all of that from the start of it, to Sam as an anchor, to Sam being an adrenaline junkie cuz soooo true and giggled, and to the end of it. NLG gave yet another masterclass.

I was glad that Jason got a moment. And I felt Danny did okay as well. Though I might take back what I said about the actor playing Danny. Is he green...yes? But I really think the smile issue is a face structure issue, and that can't be helped. I think he will grow out of it. If I was annoyed at anything, it was I could get a better tell on it if the camera had not cut right when he emoted enough to release this perfect sad sigh as Danny got choked up and looked upward.

I have mixed feelings about the Lucas/Ava scenes. Not because it did not have substance to it. It was nice to see that, and it was a mostly nice counterbalance to the funeral. It just felt too like 'let's get a ATWT actors together' for me. I guess it's because when I think about when Lucas was part of the canvas, I felt he had more scenes with Julian than Ava so I don't feel it yet.

That montage of Sam...the finality of it all. It was also well done, and I liked it went all the way to her beginnings to even getting a KV Molly scene in there.

And long last...LULU!!!

I think that whoever murdered Sam will frame Elizabeth for the crime. Elizabeth will be arrested. Elizabeth in peril will inspire Lucky to change. He will come out of his garbage can and become a respectable person. He will want to stay in town and save Liz.

Do you think that the Davis girls are done crying? No. When they realize that Sam has been murdered, they will cry rivers again. When Ava wins in court there will be another round of tears.

Now that I've seen it for myself. Same.

Assuming Kristina doesn't snap and try to shoot Ava when she wins of course.

I know I giggled at the wheel flashback myself. Early Dante and Sam, KM definitely had some spark.

But I agree with all the flashbacks.

Considering it was a best of flashback situation they probably had to dig deep to find Sam with personality lol.  I think there were definite times KeMo still showed some spark even in the end, but they were bogged down by the 99% of time she didn't.

If I had to choose the summer she was a villainess and her falling in love with Jason were probably the times she showed the most emotion.  I know she and Billy had a special connection, but I never found Sam/Drew stuff interesting.

I was personally amazed that they showed her with Sonny. Other than that I thought their choices were excellent! I thought that someone took a lot of time picking clips. So good for them. Also an amazing number of actors in the church! Not used to seeing groups like that much anymore.

I don't remember thinking BM/KM had fire chemistry.  I did like that it was at least something different for Sam.  From my standpoint, I think Becky and Billy had better chem to be honest.  To me, Jason/Sam was always her most viable pairing.  It just got played out.  Their beginning was cute even if it was a story meant for Jason/Brenda which would have actually been fire.

Monaco, for the first time in a while, felt alive in a JaSam pairing with Miller in the role, at least from my perspective. And yes, Miller & Rebecca Herbst had outstanding chemistry, but I never saw them being repaired after Lizzie kept the secret of Drew's then-true identity. Herbst also had outstanding chemistry with Sean Kanan's AJ Quartermaine... which is a pairing I will always hate that did not go further than it did.... imagine Elizabeth Webber as Michael's step-mother...? Carly's head would have SPUN off of her shoulders!!!

    • With Raven & Draper, it's more "past-shadowing" than "foreshadowing".   Draper dated Raven a couple of years earlier (1976 or 1977).  Draper's father is a sleazy but successful attorney named Ansel Scott.  Ansel Scott became engaged to a vain, wealthy, middle-aged widow named Mrs. Nadine Alexander.  Nadine's husband had been dead for many years, but she had a nubile, shallow, selfish daughter named Raven Alexander who was about Draper's age.  Nadine thought it would be WONDERFUL if Draper took Raven out to dinner and showed her a few nice evenings.  He obliged.  But it soon became evident that Raven had a "daddy fixation" -- Raven didn't care much for her mother, but she was practically in love with the memory of her deceased father.  Since her father was no longer around, Raven decided her new stepfather (Ansel Scott) would be a suitable substitute, so she began batting her eyes and wiggling her ass at Ansel.  Ultimately, Ansel Scott and Nadine Alexander got married and moved to London.  To Draper, Raven is nothing more than the horrible girl who was always attempting to seduce his father.   To make herself even MORE unlikable to Draper (and to April), Raven lied for several months about the paternity of her baby, little Jamey Swift.  She told April that Draper had fathered the child, as Kevin Jamison was sterile.  Well, really it was Logan Swift who'd gotten her pregnant, but she did her best to make April believe Draper was the baby daddy. April and Draper absolutely can't stand Raven -- but April LOVES Jamey Swift, as April had a miscarriage and lost her baby and can theoretically never get pregnant again.  April thinks of Jamey Swift as the baby she'll never have.  If Raven ever announces any intention of moving to London to be with Nadine and Ansel, you can already guess where she'll be dumping Jamey, lol.    In my opinion, Margo is one of the most fascinating characters on the show.  She's like a contagion, contaminating everyone she touches, but she's so forlorn and needy that you can't help but love her.  The actress (Ann Williams) puts a tremendous amount of depth into Margo Huntington.
    • She, the star of the show that she is, was fantastic in the episode, and the scene does include her, but it's more on the embarrassing side of things, much more. It's certainly a fresh idea, I can say that.
    • I know French Fan had released monthly summaries for all the soaps from 1975/1976/1978 that helped to put focus on who wrote what.   It's somewhere in the message boards (not sure if in archives or not). From what I recall, Labine did start the Ben/Betsy/Arlene triangle, the Jamie/Diana story, the Felicia story, and Rick/Cal/Meg stories.    When Depriest came on, she kept the ball rolling with all of those tales by having Arlene's mom starting to work for Meg as there was blackmail from Arlene to Ben, Felicia's story became more psychological where she was being stalked.. but you couldn't tell if she was truly being stalked or if it was in her head, and I think Arlene also had an admirer that ended up dying in a struggle.  The months she was writing sounded interesting and full of tension. Once the Schneiders came on... it seemed as though what had been started by Labine and built on by Depriest was reversed by this team.  Looking at the imdb for at least Margaret Schneider.. it appears as though she had no soap experience and was more experience writing self-contained stories.  That could have contributed to their inability to keep the momentum going. I wonder if perhaps Upton had to partially rebuild the canvas because of decisions made by them.
    • I really didn't start watching the show until season 12 when I was a teen, so I only caught the last three years. I LOVED the show over all though...even that part of 13 that was a bit messy! So, it's been a treat streaming the previous seasons on Plex. I'm amazed at how well so much of the writing holds up over 30 years later. Far better than a lot that we get today! For the most part, stories move along at nice pace with good twists and turns! I just finished season 11, so I'm finally picking up where I started watching all those years before. When I started watching as a teen, Laura had already died, so while she was mentioned pretty often, I didn't have much background with the character. CM was an amazing actress and had chemistry with everyone. So, it's a bit of a headscratcher that they didn't seem to have any idea of what to do with her starting at around season 7. Her scenes at that point are mostly short, brief, and she has very little true story right until the episodes where she's dying in 9. I wonder what it was about the character that the writers couldn't figure out what to do with her. Also, Ben's exit storyline was a bit confusing for me. I never really got who this woman was who was stalking him and this "secret organization." The whole plot seems like it should be on a different show. Michelle Phillips and Nicolette Sheridan have really fun mom/daughter/frenemies chemistry. I remember having a huge crush on PP's Michael and being disappointed when he was written out at the end of season 12.
    • mayoclinic: Symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder and how severe they are can vary. People with the disorder can: Have an unreasonably high sense of self-importance and require constant, excessive admiration. Feel that they deserve privileges and special treatment. Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements. Make achievements and talents seem bigger than they are. Be preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate. Believe they are superior to others and can only spend time with or be understood by equally special people. Be critical of and look down on people they feel are not important. Expect special favors and expect other people to do what they want without questioning them. Take advantage of others to get what they want. Have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others. Be envious of others and believe others envy them. Behave in an arrogant way, brag a lot and come across as conceited. Insist on having the best of everything — for instance, the best car or office. At the same time, people with narcissistic personality disorder have trouble handling anything they view as criticism. They can: Become impatient or angry when they don't receive special recognition or treatment. Have major problems interacting with others and easily feel slighted. React with rage or contempt and try to belittle other people to make themselves appear superior. Have difficulty managing their emotions and behavior. Experience major problems dealing with stress and adapting to change. Withdraw from or avoid situations in which they might fail. Feel depressed and moody because they fall short of perfection. Have secret feelings of insecurity, shame, humiliation and fear of being exposed as a failure. --- Or maybe Leslie simply has Soap Villain Syndrome.
    • Ambryn Michelle and Trisha Mann-Grant are easily the most charismatic actresses to grace daytime in a longggggggg time. This show wouldn’t be as good without them, IMO.
    • whatever she has is far worse. Narcissism is just a symptom for deeper issues.

    • What is it? I already know Ambyr was electrifying.
    • The show isn't great right now, but I do hope it can stay on, unlikely as that may be. I guess at least it's better than this time last year. I will say it doesn't really feel like Shortland Street anymore.
