CBS’ new daytime drama series “Beyond The Gates” has cast soap alums Karla Mosley and Daphnee Duplaix as “Dani Dupree” and “Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson,” respectively, daughters of the Dupree family matriarch, “Anita,” played by “As The World Turns” alum Tamara Tunie (ex-Jessica Griffin).

A former model turned “momager” who gave up her career for love, Dani (Mosley) is the Dupree family’s wild child, who’s also free-spirited, headstrong and uninhibited. Dropping out of school to pursue a high-flying modeling career, she has always marched to the beat of her own drum. Meanwhile, Nicole (Duplaix) exudes warmth, empathy and compassion. Although her seemingly perfect life includes being married to a surgeon husband, not everything is as it appears on the outside… inside.

As for Dani and Nicole’s mother, Antia (Tunie) is the family’s matriarch who at one time was a famous singer. Since leaving that life behind, Anita has worked hard for her success, while also raising two daughters with her now-retired senator husband. Underneath her glamorous and refined exterior, there is a fierceness she’s gained from her humble beginnings in Chicago.

“Beyond The Gates” tells the story of the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty.

Set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington D.C., and in one the most affluent African American counties in the United States, “Beyond The Gates” is where viewers will find a posh gated community filled with winding tree-lined streets and luxurious mansions that the wealthy call home.

Behind the pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. As for those living outside the gates, they are indeed watching closely. For every person who has “made it,” there are always those who have not. Follow the characters as they live, love, work, and play, all while trying to navigate life, some more gracefully than others.

Best known for her portrayal as Maya Avant on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” Mosley’s credits include “Gossip Girl,” “Hart of Dixie,” “Deadly Cheer Mom” and “Burn After Reading,” among others. She made her daytime television debut in 2008, playing Christina Moore on “Guiding Light.” As a voice actress, she voiced roles in the 2020 hit video game “Spider-Man: Miles Morales.” In 2021, she received rave reviews from fans when she subbed for Mishael Morgan in the role of Amanda Sinclair on “The Young and the Restless.”

As for Duplaix, she’s making a return to daytime after previously portraying Rachel Gannon on “One Life to Live” and Valerie Davis on “Passions.” Her other credits include roles in such shows as “Harry’s Law,” “CSI: NY,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “The District” and “Half & Half,” among others.

Interestingly, the NAACP recognized both actresses with a nomination in the Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series category for their previous daytime work – Mosley for Maya Avant on “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 2014, and Duplaix for Rachel Gannon on “One Life to Live” in 2010.

Created by Michele Val Jean, who also serves as showrunner/executive producer, “Beyond The Gates” is produced by the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, led by Sheila Ducksworth, in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble.

Robert Guza Jr. (“General Hospital,” “Sunset Beach”), Julie Carruthers (“All My Children,” “Port Charles”), Leon Russell, Derrick Johnson, Kimberly Doebereiner and Anna Saalfeld are set as executive producers alongside Val Jean and Ducksworth.

Production on the show is set to begin later this fall in Atlanta with CBS saying the show will premiere in early 2025. Previously the network announced the series would launch in January 2025.

Karla was great on B&B but Bradley totally ruined her character and storyline. It will be good to see her again.

I'm not too familiar with Duplaix work.

A case of a successful recast that OLTL didn't know what to do with her. You will like her. :)

I am indifferent to Karla Mosley. Disliked her on Bold, but she did fine with pinch-hitting on Restless. So this should be good for her. Unfamiliar with Daphnee Duplaix; I vaguely remember her during my two-minute watching of One Life. But happy for them both.
