Members Contessa Donatella
At the time, no, there was no arrangement for residuals. But, surely you know that when a show uses an original flashback - and the actor in question is not employed by the show at that time, then, residuals ARE PAID to that actor. Shortly after the show moved to Peacock, I was astounded. They used a Jensen Ackles flashback. Peacock had to line item approve that & also pay for it. NBC would NOT have done it. Oh well they never did. The point is that the contracts that protect the actors (also others) have gone through many changes & much of things are retroactive. I feel obliged to mention how small actors say some of those checks are. Edited September 22, 2024 by Contessa Donatella info
Members JAS0N47
There have been residuals in daytime contracts since at least the 1980's, so those would be residuals people are talking about. These are the residuals listed for a 1991 "Days of Our Lives" U/5 (under five lines) actor, so these were the standard residual rates for U/5 roles back in 1991. The principal (speaking) roles would have had a much higher residual rate, but this gives a good look at things in regars to daytime TV residuals in 1991, plus the rates for foreign use compensation (when Days would air in any other country): Please register in order to view this content Edited September 22, 2024 by JAS0N47
Members Aback
You play a flashback on a streaming platform that people pay to join --> you pay a residual to the actors acting in that flashback. You post a thousand year old clip online where no one is making any money (for example, X) --> I don't see the moral obligation for a residual, sorry. Some people are forgetting the importance of archiving, which is why in 2024 we still have tons of soap episodes missing.
Members Paul Raven
There are entire episodes of series on You Tube and full clips also. Why is no one blocking these? I just randomly looked up My Three Sons and there is tons of stuff. Is it because DOOL etc are still on the air?
Members Contessa Donatella
People suspect it has something to do with the upcoming 60th anniversary but I have no idea why that might be so.
