Less than a year since taking over the role of Molly Lansing-Davis on “General Hospital,” actress Kristen Vaganos has been upped to contract status at the ABC daytime drama series.

Making her debut on the September 27, 2023 episode, Vaganos is the fourth adult actress to play the daughter of Alexis Davis and Ric Lansing (Nancy Lee Grahn and Rick Hearst), who, like her parents, is also a lawyer.

Vaganos, a Philadelphia native, is the first actress to portray Molly on a contract basis since the character’s introduction in 2006. Initially, the character was born onscreen and was portrayed by two different sets of twin babies until 2008. By 2009, the show opted to age up the character with the hiring of Haley Pullos, who went on to receive a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for her portrayal in 2015 in the Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series category.

In May 2023, it was announced that Pullos had been involved in a car accident caused by DUI. She last appeared in the role on May 24, 2023. Two actresses, Holiday Mia Kriegel and Brooke Anne Smith, later filled as the show assessed Pullos’ health and legal situation. By late September, Vaganos had taken over the role.

During recent episodes, Vaganos has been praised for her powerful portrayal of a grieving mother who recently found out that her half-sister, Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi), had been planning to seek sole custody of the baby she was carrying as a surrogate for Molly and Molly’s domestic partner T.J. Ashford (Tajh Bellow).

Although Molly and T.J. had agreed to name their deceased daughter Irene Marie Davis-Ashford leading up to the child’s funeral service, Kristina later revealed that she would refer to the child as Adela, which is the name of Molly and Kristina’s deceased paternal grandmother, who Kristina herself was named after, albeit her middle name – Adela Corinthos was the mother of Kristina’s father, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Molly’s father, Ric.

Before joining “General Hospital,” Vaganos appeared in several film and television projects, most notably the TV movie “Obsessed with the Babysitter” and the mini-series “Dating After College.”

According to the end credits shown during Friday, August 30 episode of “General Hospital,” Vaganos’ name appears ahead of Jonathan Jackson in the contract cast list. Jackson reprised his role as Lucky Spencer on the Friday, August 23 episode.

    • Yeah, something is not right here. I will continue to have doubts about Leslie being Eva's mother for the time being. Until at least the writing/behavior of her character changes. She is acting way too cold/uncaring/hateful to be her mother. I know as soap fans, we have seen our share of rough around the edges, bad acting mothers. But even some of the roughest of soap mothers have acted like they love their children. Even if they don't always make the best decisions regarding them. Or are often at odds with them. Leslie has not shown anything for me to show that she even cares about Eva, even a little. It's all about what Leslie/wants needs and what Eva can do for her. As soon as she felt like Eva no longer served a purpose for her she threw her away. I am interested in seeing what happens with Leslie going forward. She really doesn't have anyone on her side. Eva at least now has Ted and Tomas to a lesser degree. I think that some others will eventually come to accept Eva in time.
    • I'm looking forward to seeing the first 18 minutes or so that we missed earlier this episode. But I loved what I saw today: I thought that what I saw of Bill's/Ted's interaction was realistic and interesting. I know we have hardly seen them interact, but I think that they have nice chemistry together. And Iiked the dialogue that they had about their roles/mistakes in this whole paternity reveal/hurting Nicole. I would like to see them interact more together in the future. I also enjoyed Dani being there for Nicole and giving her good advice. I did lol when Dani said she wanted to take off her earrings and be left alone with Leslie, Eva, Bill and Ted... I like Nicole as always acting mature and measured and trying to process what has happened to her along with support from her sister. I like that her family supported her and gave her space (including her parents) and then she went to them when she was ready. I enjoyed her scenes with her parents at the end. Speaking of parents, Leslie continues to act like this. Her behavior towards Eva is trash and she literally threw the picture of them together at the end in the trash. She really doesn't deserve Eva, and I continue to wonder if she really is her mother. She is just too cold towards her and sees her as a means to an end. I really wonder if she thought that Ted was going to help Eva. Or if she was hoping that he would turn her away as well. I'm glad he helped her and wants to try and have a relationship with her. It will cause conflict with the rest of the family, but it's the right thing for him to do, IMO.
    • What an interesting read @Paul Raven. Thank you so much for posting it. Annette
    • She’s riveting. And how she transitioned from utter devastation after the confrontation with Leslie to hopeful in the Ted scene—so seamless. She’s easily the most exciting actress I’ve seen in daytime in a looooooooong time. If she’s not the face of this show in a few months, they’re leaving money on the table.
    • Yeah either Leslie is a demented mother, or Leslie is not the real mother.
    • Ambyr is killing it per usual. The Eva and Leslie confrontation was GOOD. I gotta admit Ted taking in Eva and promising to do right by her made me cry.    See, he can still be a decent guy

    • Leslie threw Eva's photo in the kitchen garbage can.

She threw out that picture of Eva. Im convinced Eva is NOT her daughter. She has no maternal instinct. Thats Nicole's kid   awww Ted is getting her an apartment and he said he would never leave his daughter. I love it! I bet it will be better than that dump Leslie had her in and she better not open the door for her
