I guess the show faked me out because I assumed he was going to live. Those two were just yammering about all the inconsistencies while Bobby was dying.  So I didn't think it was that dire?  Lol.  Next thing I know they are rolling him out in a body bag.  Poor Blake Berris.  The show clearly just has no idea how to use him no matter who is running the show.

I thought he was going to live because of the way they acted!!!!

I assume the actors care about this story as much as we do.  Instead of chit chatting please help a dying man!  They weren't two casual acquaintances.  One was MARRIED to him and the other was in love with him.  I would have been freaking out and trying to get more help if it was a random stranger lol.

Well, I was muttering to myself about being disgusted with today's show and all of a sudden one of my favorite shows in the whole world, ever, is on Peacock following DAYS!!! HLOTS! HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET!  WOW.

So, my rose is Hattie for standing up for herself in the face of Lenny's armchair shrink impersonation! My thorn is whoever wrote this mess.

As far as I am concerned Cady could be on the show 5 days a week, every week. Personally I think she is more Jennifer Rose-ish, the more she is on. Like not playing the part for months is an impediment to the acting. Where the more she does it, the better she is at it. Honestly, I will also say that holds true for Matt Ashford, as well.

Agreed.  Plus those blaming Cady for the unJenniferlike breakdown, isn't her fault.  She didn't write the show/scenes. SMFH.  Cady is a much better actress and is as good as IF not better than Melissa Reeves.

FINALLY! Someone else here is making sense!!!

Cady has an interesting distinction, Emmy-wise. She's won an Emmy for playing 3 different roles, on 3 different shows, on 3 different networks. And, all 3 were recasts! Dixie on AMC which is ABC, Roseanna on ATWT which is CBS & Jennifer Rose on DAYS which was either on NBC or on Peacock. Sorry I am unclear on that timing. Clearly she must have been just awful on Y&R since she was not presented with such an accolade. (Joking!)

Or maybe he’ll be inspired by Michele Val Jean and pitch his own soap: a cringey campy shitfest 😂

It genuinely wouldn't surprise me if The Gates does well across platforms.

While I'm relatively new to DOOL (watched AMC for decades), I've seen enough to say that I think MR would have played those "not my daughter" scenes more grounded. It may all come down to acting style, but CM didn't play material so OTT when at her best. MR plays quieter, smaller, and more delicate which would have served those scenes better, imo. Cady's return was like a bull in a China shop. I get the character's motivations, that was clear, but the actor's delivery could have used some modulation. CM was a hurricane, I think MR would have played the quiet storm of doubt and wistfulness.

DID, meta soap-within-a-soap, we've seen it all before, and it's not being revisited (a generous term, copied and played out are more like it) in a good way, just comes across as tired, lazy, self-referential, and self-mocking, and frankly detrimental to the medium when it comes to new fans' perceptions of what daytime drama is capable of providing.

The new Gabi is giving me Elaine Princi feels in terms of a suitable recast who doesn't make me forget the actress she replaced but who is carrying the torch of the character in a way where I'm along for the ride.

I will miss Blake Berris who was probably the best actor on the show.

Since there's zero chance that Melissa Reeves will miraculously  become a non-bigoted, non-racist member of polite society, I for one could care less about any perceived abilities.

As stupid and unnecessary as this Alex-Chanel/Body and Soul [!@#$%^&*] is, I appreciated that today’s episode was worked on by a real writer. You could tell from the very beginning. Today’s writing was more mature and had more depth.

I liked the Xander/Sarah/Maggie scenes today and how they’re both standing up to be there for Sarah. Brady thinking that he was the one who ran her over or finding out the truth and taking the blame for Fiona could be a pretty good mess. The aftermath of it all could have a pretty good ripple effect across the canvas. And hopefully, one of those ripples will hit Tate and Holly as well. Brady and Theresa’s problems not effecting him at all is another missed opportunity.

And Idk why but I like the Paulina/Jada relationship. I hope she continues to comfort Jada while Rafe’s in a coma. Btw, did Galen Gering need time off or something?

Exactly.

The way it’s being written doesn’t come off as respect for the genre, it comes off as contempt for it.

I agree with you about Cady.  Those scenes the other day were very OTT.  I can't see MR playing them anything like that.

I also agree with others that CM is probably a better actress than MR just based on overall work.  I just don't think CM is better at playing Jennifer than MR.  Obviously I don't expect her to jump in and master a role Missy's been playing more than half her life, but I don't think Cady gets Jennifer as a character exactly.

There are a million reasons to dislike Missy.  I don't like Missy and am pretty ambivalent on Jennifer as a character in general.  I get the sentiment to root for Cady and want her to do well in the part.  I just think Missy owns the role.  I think the fact that Missy is a problematic person makes people forget how good she was as Jen.

Well, for me, I well remember MR when she first started. She & KA & Lisa Trusel, as novices, we used to say they ran races to see who could say their lines & get offstage the fastest. It was a good-natured joke when they were young & kinda shy. They all got over it & became journeyman actreses & then they went on to master their crafts!!! Really exceptionally good actresses & yes, they grew up with their characters, what an advantage that is!!! So, I definitely am well aware that when Missy was at the top of her game & also a regular cast member, you couldn't beat her Jennifer Rose, period.

But, now, all of the side stuff pulls me right out of the dramatic moment. Add that to the fact that she's not interested in it as a regular gig & to me, it's simply not worth it.

I get that.  I am actually totally fine with CM playing the role.  She's willing and seems to make herself available whenever needed.  I just think some people are saying she's amazing because anyone is better than Missy.  Overall, CM has done a decent job.  That performance the other day was rough and in no way do I imagine MR playing it that way.

I think it's a disservice to keep swapping them out as well.  I felt the same way when they were swapping out Stacy and Eileen as Kristen.  Whenever you see the OG actor it takes you out of the new actors portrayal.

I totally agree with this!!! It does not make any sense to go back & forth.

Yup.  If it were me running this show I would either bring back Matt and Cady and use them more or just work around Missy.  The show rarely uses Jennifer anyhow.  It makes no sense to use Cady for a day and then go back to Missy for Doug's funeral (although I get that for sentimental reasons).
