  • Key Art/Logo for "Beyond The Gates" released.
  • Soap alums Tamara Tunie ("As The World Turns"), Daphnee Duplaix ("One Life to Live," "Passions") and Karla Mosley are the first actors officially cast by the show.
  • "Beyond The Gates" is a one-hour daytime drama.
  • The series is set to premiere in early 2025. Previously, CBS announced it would debut in January 2025.

Note: "BTG" will be the official acronym used for "Beyond The Gates" on the SON Community. Posts/threads created should always start with "BTG:" going forward.

For reference, the current soap acronyms are "B&B" (The Bold and the Beautiful), "DAYS" (Days of our Lives"), "GH" (General Hospital") and "Y&R" (The Young and the Restless). "ALL" is for all shows, while "AMC" is for All My Children.

Also, #BeyondTheGates is the official hashtag to be used on social media, per CBS.

Facebook and Instagram pages have been created, but are not active. Will share the link when they are officially available.

And, of course, P&G being involved, to a great many fans, is problematic. I realize it's been many years but for some fans the sting is still felt. Some places online fans comment negatively about this.

not so much problematic as curious. this the missing part of the story. how did p&g come to this decision. since there’s no real soap media anymore, it would have to be some mainstream or entertainment outlet to do a deep dive.

not holding my breath.

I still find the P&G connection to be odd. Seeing them celebrate their success in developing soaps is so odd when you consider they do nothing with their back catalog. Even when they tried to do a streaming service with Walmart, they never used their soaps.

I'd love if the success of BTG inspired them to revisit what they tried to do with their AOL streaming channel and brought it back. Of course now they could also add ATWT and GL since they're cancelled. Previously I thought this was a fantasy but it could actually happen the way things are going.

Despite the current political climate and other corporations caving, P&G is committed to Diversity and Inclusion and using their financial might to invest in these areas. BTG is considered to be part of that investment so they’re going hard for it and have an incentive to do so. Their back catalog of soaps don’t really deliver on this.

I think they acknowledge their history in daytime, but it stops there. Their aim with P&G Studios is more future forward to develop content that aligns with their corporate philosophy and goals, and yeah, to push their brands, lol.

Sheila Ducksworth told the story in detail at the Paley event how P&G got involved with BTG. The head of CBS (George Cheeks) had asked her to have a meeting with Mark Pritchard, the Chief Brand Officer, at P&G. She “soft pitched” him the idea of a Black-led soap, and he was interested. He told her once they had a more solidified idea, to come back to him and that P&G would love to be involved. After that, she engaged with Michele Val Jean who developed and created the show. P&G then officially committed.

Why post this? Because he was at the party in LA.
(yes I agree he's awful) but I posted for a reason.

With his IG story pic with Karla Mosley, captioned "you're not ready for Dani Dupree",
the ig story had background music of the song "Survivor" by Destiny's Child.

MVJ writes the story, not Carlivati.   Just wondering if maybe he's giving his take on the character of Dani. But probably just a lighthearted comment.

It amazes me how hack writers like Ron Carlivati continue to get hired.

Yeah... I'm still concerned about how he'll write Mike Manning's character, and just the female characters in general, in the episodes that he works on.

Hopefully, they're watching him like a hawk

I'm wondering if his material is what is being edited or changed.. What Tamara alluded to the other night.

It frustrates me when Ron Carlivati is told that fans are unhappy with his writing and laughs and tells the fans they need to get over it.

I liked the opening and the theme music for the last years of ATWT. lol

I loved that theme and it's one of my favorites. Martha Byrne's head turn in time with the music was everything.

I think ATWT's last opening was what all soaps need to be in this day and age: just a simple title card with some dramatic "sting" playing underneath (although, I could have done without the globe rolling across the title like some roll-on deodorant).

And I LOVE Kim Zimmer's description of GL's last anniversary opening: a bunch of hairy-ass arms reaching out to other hairy-ass arms, lol.

I think a title card is fine for some days (B&B does this) but a full opening adds to the charm of the soap.

He's got issues.

And those issues are what got him fired from Days. Hopefully, he doesn't bring them over to BTG.

Btw, if Dani ever goes on a campy rant about how she could've been a model for Forrester Creations, we know who to blame 😂😂

As much as I want him off Days, keep him the hell away from this lol

He literally is Ron, at his absolute worst, times ten.

Ron Carlivati is a breakdown writer, not a scriptwriter who actually writes the words the characters say. Regardless, Michele Val Jean as head writer and Robert Guza Jr. as co-head writer approve scripts before they are sent to the actors for filming.

I haven't watched the segment myself, but if you're saying what I think she might have been saying without saying it, I believe I know what she might be referring to. To be clear, it's not about Ron Carlivati at all.

That said, I won't taint the show with that nugget right now as it needs no negative press going in. It'll come out when the time is right (again, I didn't say ANYTHING!)

Dani's been on the cover of a magazine (spoiler redacted). She doesn't need Forrester Creations!

The magazine covers were created as props as framed pics on the walls of a set. I posted the pics at the beginning of the "BTG Feb. Spoilers" thread.
The show arranged this with  (redacted name of magazine). Pretty cool.

The full article from the magazine is at (Link to article)
(Don't peek at that link if you're avoiding spoiler pics or spoilers)

I'll just quote the nonspoiler part of the  article here:
from Karla Mosley and RhonniRose Mantilla:

Mosley is thrilled to be on a show that follows three generations of Black women. "A Black matriarch leading this and then her daughters is so refreshing, but also reflective of our culture. Women are the people who drive everything. It's why we talk so much right now about protecting Black women and thanking Black women. We have been carrying this country and this world on our backs for a long time," she shared.

"It's exciting to see women who are self-made, who are our mothers, but also have their own businesses, lives, careers, passion and ambition, and also find a way to balance that with love for their family and community," Mosley added.

Getting the chance to work with Tunie and Mosley is something that Mantilla cherishes. "I was raised by my mother and grandmother, so it means the world to me to be able to show strong Black women and learn from Karla and Tamara. It's an incredible opportunity."

She said in the beginning production was giving the actors scrips too far in advance, and things would often change as they got closer to filming those episode. She asked them to send them scripts a little closer to filming dates to avoid that.

She said it’s important for the various production departments to get the scripts far in advance so they can manage various logistics, but it wasn’t really necessary for the actors.
