GH: March 2024 Discussion Thread

I thought Lexi said there were personal reasons she left.  That could all be BS, but it sounded mutual?  They barely used LA anyway, so I could see her just wanting to move on to the next chapter of her life.  I personally think they kept HP on as long as they did because LA looked so young and so did HP so it worked.   I remember being super skeeved out when Molly had a one night stand with Brando lol.

Jordan is a very stunning looking woman.  That's about the only positive I have.   Her looking the same age as TJ and talking about being a grandma is off putting to say the least.  I do acknowledge that Olivia and Dante look the same age as well though.

A lot of people feel like Lexi Ainsworth's exit was not mutual; I believe there was a discussion between Ainsworth & TPTB, and the agreement was for her to exit. That's my POV on the situation, and I also take Ainsworth's word that she was pursuing other opportunities for her own story to be told (as well as auditioning for The Young and the Restless). And Molly sleeping with Brando felt... off, mostly because Haley Pullos & Johnny Wactor just did not fit visually. It felt like an adult sleeping with a child.

Another downside of SORASing TJ with the casting of Tajh Bellow, who again, should have been Tom Hardy Jnr, and they could have not aged TJ up.

I wouldn't be shocked if LA was fired.  At the very least GH let her give her own spin on it, as they should after her years there.

HP is over a decade younger than Wactor, who looks almost his 40 years as well.  Such an odd decision.  And, yes, it did look like he was sleeping with a teenager.

I have been told a few times they didn't de-age Jordan, but TH looks young.  TB is good and should have been Tom Hardy Jr.  TBH, I would have broken up TJ/Molly years ago because they really aren't a compelling pairing.  Although there is something earnest and rare for a teen couple to last this long without any relatively huge issues.

I mean, she's 31.  She just looks young, but she can't really help that lol

It absolutely looked like it, and I think that's why it was so unsettling to watch. I didn't hate Molly sleeping with someone else, but Brando felt randomly inserted somewhere she shouldn't have been.

The ages of the Jordans are as follows:

  • Vinessa Antoine (40)
  • Briana Nicole Henry (32)
  • Tiffany Daniels (43)
  • Tanisha Harper (38)

So, with Harper's casting, the role was de-aged by two-years from Anotine, but aged back up four from Henry.

And I agree, re: Molly & TJ. It's endearing they've lasted this long, but it also is a bit off-putting more has not shaken them up more as a couple. I'm all for long-term pairing but I also enjoy the shakeup every now and again, like what Dante & Lulu experienced between her [recast] memory loss, and Valerie's insertion.

The show also paired her with people that looked years older than her.  Kiefer looked like he was 25 at 15.  Ethan?  Looked 10 years older than her and I actually don't think there was that much of an age difference.  Parker?  Get out.  Why would you pair LA with a woman that is a decade and a half older than her?   I really do understand she looks like a teenager, but the show didn't actually ever try to cast a love interest around that.

Yikes!  BNH was way too young!!

Vinessa Antoine had more presence and gravitas than Tanisha Harper does so I believed she could be TJ's mom.  Idk, when you are on recast 4 of a character it might be time for a long character rest.

Molly & TJ spent so long happy off screen there was never a chance to give them story lol.

Well, Daniels was a pinch hit for Henry, who was out due to COVID. But she did well. And honestly, the writing for Harper's Jordan is vastly different from Anotine. I am hopeful Mulcahey & Korte do something with her, otherwise, she can be cut in six months. And yes, Henry was too young for the role. Far too young.

Good episode today

So Jason’s been a mercenary working for Jagger and something is being held over his head to keep him on mission. I’m intrigued by the mystery of it all.

SB did great work once again when Jason told Michael about the first time Bobbie put Michael in his hands. He’s much more committed as an actor this go around which is nice.

No matter how mundane the scene set up Finola Hughes is always on, what a great actress. I liked her and Molly putting their heads together.

Sam, Kristina and Danny scenes were good too

Drew and Willow have a little chemistry, them messing around would shake her and Michael up in an interesting way.

Sonny and Lois scenes were good. If Rena isn’t interested in being front burner utilizing Lois as the level headed talk to works for me. Looks like she’ll be the first to sniff out whatever Ava is up to.

    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.

    • I started a separate thread for the same tribute, but of course it can be discussed wherever. doesn't matter where. Fyi  Jason Cook, Staci Greason, and Eileen Davidson will be there as well as Reckell and some of the current cast Thread for Live tribute to Drake https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/68987-days-currentformer-actors-live-video-tribute-for-drake-hogestyn
    • Seeing Nicole and Martin together reminds me of watching Alice with Mickey Horton in the 90s and 00s. The seem more like peers than mother and son.  The younger half of the cast (35ish and below) is playing younger, and the older half (35+) is playing older.
