This whole thing has made me question if Ken was this inept and out of it when he had good executive producers like Tom Langan, Stephen Wyman, and Edward Scott.

Also, the fact that he’s buddying around with Alarr still makes me wonder if Alarr is still somehow running the show by proxy through Janet.

Janet has been with Days since the 80s so I’m not sure why she’d align with him but here we are.

Also, Corday missed the whole Me Too movement somehow. How could he possibly think this situation could be swept under the rug?

If this does lead to Days ending I hope people don’t blame Ari.

I think DAYS could come back from this, but Sony would need to step in and make serious changes BTS - meaning, of course, they would have to push Ken Corday out as EP.  The question is, would Ken Corday allow for those changes to be made, or would he get in Sony's way?  That's why I said before that it wouldn't surprise me if NBCU/Peacock just decides to flush the show and move on, because there's no way in Melaswen that Corday's gonna relinquish his hold over his parents' legacy.

Sony cannot push Corday out. As the CEO of Corday Productions he literally owns the show.

Remember when Nicole couldn't seem to live down her past as "Misty Circle"?  This entire mess is bringing back memories of the hell she (Nicole) went through years ago trying to move on from her days as an underaged porn star.

And reframing that per January 2024 GH memorial episodes for Bobbie Spencer ... Bobbie was originally referred to as a teen prostitute, but the recent episode acknowledged that actually Bobbie was trafficked by Aunt Ruby -- and yet  Bobbie eventually found her own power in her life as a nurse, and Bobbie's final months were her helping current trafficking victims.

The same would be true for Nicole Walker.  To reframe this, fictional Nicole wasn't an underage porn star, she was someone trafficked by her father, but she eventually found her own power.   And now real-life Ari Z is standing up for all cast and crew subject to abusive situations.

Of course a reasonable person would do that. I could be wrong but I think he would shutter it before he'd sell it. SAG-AFTRA, Peacock & maybe even Sony could make his life miserable or they could make him "an offer he couldn't refuse" but I just don't think he'd sell. There was a rumor, just a rumor, that NBC tried to get him to sell it to them years ago.

In my opinion it’s been clear for a while now that he’s wanted to get the show to its sixtieth season and then wrap the show and retire.

To anyone who has done a careful reading of the filing, Greg Meng was there till July 2020. Is there anything alleged to have gone on when he was still present? Or does it begin after July 2020?

Very nice. Analysis. Sentiment. And Real-Life Ari Z sounds like a superhero.

I doubt SONY would want to buy a dying soap. Sorry

I also agree. NBC got out of the soap business. I don’t think Sony would want it. Internationally it’s not all that popular except in Canada and Australia.

The budget is so low and the production values are atrocious. I think Peacock will cut its losses next year. Sad to see it go out this way.

I wonder if the rumour that Ron was let go when his contract was up last month is true. I could see them installing a classic writer like Anderson to pen the farewell season.

What?? Sweet aunt Ruby trafficked Bobbie?!? I only knew Ruby in the 90s and she was so lovely.

How is Days of our Lives even still on, producing new episodes? Are there really a lot of people out there watching it, a new streamed show every weekday? Do they ever pick up brand new viewers, who've never seen it before?

Online there are always plenty of DAYS fans posting but not all are watching. I've also seen new fans but I doubt they'd be statistically significant. Anecdotal. The show has been in Peacock's top 5 plenty but it isn't right now.

I’m not sure if Peacock really cares if anyone actually watches Days just so long as they’re subscribing month in and month out.

The move to Peacock was never about strengthening Days in my opinion. It was about Peacock gaining a long term subscriber base.

I spoke to my aunt earlier today, who has been a soap watcher for decades. Of the four soaps still on the air, the one she still watched was Days of our Lives. That is, until it moved to Peacock. She hasn't watched it since. I don't know how many people are watching Days of our Lives currently, but it's definitely nowhere near the same amount as those who watched when it was still on broadcast television.

People say it's in the Top 10 on the streaming site a lot but does that really mean much given Peacock's subscriber base is way less than a lot of the others are?

My aunt also was a Days watcher which surprised me. Since it moved to Peacock she hasn't seen it again.

Yeah if my grandma was around, she'd be pissed she couldn't watch. She was never big on computers etc, so yeah no Peacock if she were still here lol. She is who got me hooked on DAYS in the 80s lol

That would be true of any streamer with any show but especially a soap. Just comes with the territory.
