John, you don't know this man like that. Every actor the show just hired and we found out about 24 hours ago is not a friend. This is just an actor on a TV show. I don't care if anyone on this show is hired or fired if they don't have a viable role to play that makes sense.

I don't see any need for Jagger to return to the show, let alone played by a guy who looks nothing like Jagger. So yeah, I'm fine with him being gone.

I just think y'all should stop torturing @carolineg !!!

Honestly I just went by my reaction to him on the screen. Nothing more. Nothing less. I wasn't in love with him but I also did not have a problem with him. Right, that's not some glowing recommendation. It just is, neutral, beige, so boring if you wish.

It’s two things for me- a random name from the past to create fake nostalgia/familiarity for the audience that has near zero connection to the current show (see Jackie Templeton recast, and name dropping Jimmy Lee for Austin), and also the clear whitewashing. That’s two strikes.

It’s not the actor’s fault, it’s the casting by the show. And it should not happen.

And I give zero [!@#$%^&*] about ASJ or Jagger.

I can't recall who said it, but it's so true: they could have hired Adam Harrington to play nuJax instead.  At least Jax still has connections on the canvas that could shake up storylines in meaningful ways.

I don't see any need for Jax to be back at present either tbh. But Ingo was iconic in the role for so many years and you'd need to find someone both strong and hot, and authentically Aussie; an older Dan Feuerriegel would've worked. (No Daniel Goddard!) Still, what would be the point? Jax has had little utility for over a decade - like Jagger, it would just become "Jax is back".

Exactly! His child is dating a mob enforcer. His ex-wife is dating a cardboard cutout. He has stuff to do right away!

I felt Jax was played out ages ago. But at least he has a real connection on the current show. Truthfully I don’t want any more of these bland people onscreen.

Well, I'll just sit back, wait and see who loses their [!@#$%^&*] and who doesn't when this girl gets cast as not-dead-after-all Karen:

    • That's how I feel. Beats could have been played for the past couple months wherein Dante and Gio interacted and had a difference of opinion -- or something. I don't know. I do know that this crushing rant that blames everything on Gio is absurd. -- Reading over all the comments here about characters and couples, it's kind of amazing that we have any show left considering the number of times actors and writers and execs were given influence to make major character and story decisions. Too many cooks in the kitchen.
    • Lol. But Jeffrey was weak to mama. Leslie can go dead because anger is a great motivator via Martin defending HIS mama and just not taking ish altogether. This ain't how it should be. They need not run the show like this. It's too noticeable.
    • Oh, I see! You posted this on the general retro soap thread because of the voiceover.
    • Yeah, I agree. It's part of the reason I have shade picked on Martin's Secret being so on the backburner that it was about to fall off of it. With Dani/Bill/Hayley being the main tale to start us off and backburned and the SilkPress storyline being well paced, but not set to explode until May, Martin's Secret was the other main storyline that could have been developed. And after giving it a nice slow burn to start off, the story upped and vanished in Month 2. That left the show having to rely on mostly B/C stories to stay afloat to various degrees of success.
    • I loved those scenes, lol. I thought I was watching a stage play. But I do hear what you're saying.
    • Jason47's episode summaries clarify everything. https://daytimeroyaltyonline.com/days-daily-summaries-1990-1999-t14806-s150.html The construction company is "AJ Construction" (AJ = Adrienne+Justin).   Jencon Oil was building an oil refinery at the construction site.  This was adjacent to the park. Kirk Geiger played the character Chad Webster. The character Chad was an actor in the movie being made.   The child friend with Shawn-Douglas is his cousin Andrew Donovan. A few episodes prior, Andrew and Shawn-Douglas were at the park playing hide-and-seek. They wandered off where they shouldn't have gone, by slipping through the gate onto the construction site.  Shawn-D fell into the hole at the oil refinery. There were several episodes of trying to rescue Shawn-D.  Finally Carly rescued Shawn-D, but he was discovered to be deaf.  Andrew felt bad, but Bo and Shane both understood that it was an accident.  Carly later taught Shawn-D sign language. Shawn-D was played by Scott Groff. Andrew was played by Bradley Michael Pierce. pics here: https://web.archive.org/web/20070404163013/http://www.childrenofsalem.com/days/kids/shawnandrew/shawnandrew.html Larger context here: https://web.archive.org/web/20080614054207/http://www.bethsdayspage.com/days/riverfrontraider.htmlhttps://web.archive.org/web/20080614054207/http://www.bethsdayspage.com/days/riverfrontraider.html
    • I had a situation last week where I could watch the new episode on Paramount Plus on my laptop, but it wasn't even listed on my TV as an option.
