Thoughts:
Joey trying to gaslight Donnell is not right. Donnell has always been honest and upfront with Joey, so to be treating him like this feels like a complete slap in the damn face.
Another hospital? Damn. Sounds like the shooting really uprooted everything at Garland Memorial. But Ted, you want your ex-wife to talk to your current girlfriend? That has got to be interesting and also a potential conflict of interest, no?
How awkward... meeting your girlfriend's/ex-friend's mother following the death of her ex-boyfriend. Wow.
Jan's love for Derek ran deep... she wanted him more than Ashley ever did. Ha.
I admire that Grayson is a person of his word... but I do not think, right now, at this very moment, is the right time for him to do it.
I am not surprised at Anita and Vernon believing Monica would be a solid replacement for Lia as chief of staff. I think that is a fantastic choice. Of course Ted would want Nicole to do it, though.
Donnell, do not back down to Joey. Stand ten toes down. You have got this. And I feel like, unlike Deanna and your mother, you might be able to make some kind of impact/leeway with Joey.
Damn. Even Andre is having doubts about how things went down between him and Ashley and how Derek was involved with that. Insanity. And Dani is right; there is no guarantee that the end result could have been any different.
Ashley, Ash... Derek does not own nicknames. I know you are heartbroken and grieving, but Grayson is not the reason why. I just hope Grayson can understand that right now.
As much as I do not want to agree with her... Katherine might actually be right about Deanna's approach towards Vanessa.
I like that, despite everything, Dani is embracing Ashley during her time of mourning.
I hate to say it but Nicole dating Carlton and Kial is not the same as you dating Joey, Vanessa. Sorry, but it is not.
Nicole, you did check Katherine, but she needed to be checked more and harder because she continues to act like she was raised in a damn barn.
OH DAMN! Douglas. Now, is he really there, or is he an apparition? That is interesting. Whew. Ballsy, even.
Notes:
Was hoping writer2 would not pop up this week. Ugh. But they did. One of their better breakdowns, but I do think that is because they had to continue the momentum from the other episodes this week, so their hand was likely forced. And per usual, Brown did outstanding dialogue.
Pomarico did some solid work today as director. He does tight shots exceptionally well.
Much like Daphnée Duplaix's wig, Karla Mosley's wig is way too flat. This is the first hairstyle she has had that I am not a fan of.
Jen Jacob (Ashley) continues to do fantastic work. She is really digging into the emotional pull of the material she is being given to deliver. Kudos to her.
Keith D. Robinson (Ted) can wear any colour suit. The burnt orange on him was absolutely stunning today. Very crisp and clean.
Welcome back to Jason Graham (Douglas). It is very nice seeing him!
