The showcast — an audio only feed of that day’s episode — will go live on weekdays and can be accessed on all major Podcast platforms.
Members BoldRestless
LMAO. Makes sense. All they ever show is people sitting around talking about what they did, and never doing anything. I'm sure we'll get more Billy podcasts on the show to complement this. So exciting. Members Michael
I feel like ATWT did this in the mid-2000s for a while. I have memories of downloading the files to listen to while I went for walks.
Members janea4old
Y&R to stream audio versions of every new episode starting Sept. 30, 2022. They are calling this "showcasts" instead of "podcasts" because it's the show (and not a discussion of the show). But it's available on all podcast platforms. According to DC, showcast episodes will premiere each weekday at 3:30 PM Eastern. https://daytimeconfidential.com/2022/09/29/the-young-and-the-restless-50th-anniversary-showcast-september-30 Here is the original press release: https://www.paramountpressexpress.com/cbs-entertainment/shows/the-young-and-the-restless/releases/?view=100965-cbs-announces-the-launch-of-a-companion-showcast-for-the-top-daytime-drama-the-young-and-the-restless https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/yr-launches-showcast/ https://deadline.com/2022/09/the-young-and-the-restless-launches-showcast-1235128750/ Edited September 29, 2022 by janea4old
Members ~bl~
Guiding Light did this as well, with some narration if needed.
Members janea4old
Circa 1969-1970, I used to listen to ABC soaps from a regular VHF television broadcast station (I think it was ABC's channel 6 in New Bedford, Massacusetts) that a local FM radio happened to pick up. This wasn't intentional by the network, but it always worked. It was great if you were in a car and couldn't watch TV, you could listen to your soaps on the FM radio in your car. Members YRfan23
I guess it’s really that much of a chore now to watch, since I already just “listen” to the the show when I’m on my daily walk around the neighborhood…I barely pay attention to what’s onscreen anymore Please register in order to view this content
Members ~bl~
You used to be able to buy something called a tv band radio which allowed you to get local stations over the radio airwaves. This technology became obsolete in 2009 when everything went digital unfortunately.
Members Spoon
I had one of those. Would listen to it on Summer vacations. I remember listening to Ross and Blake's (GL) first wedding. And of course it's full circle back to the radio days. I've heard my grandma used to listen to GL while gardening.
