CBS announced a new companion showcast to Y&R, which will debut on Friday, September 30, the same day the No. 1 drama kicks off its 50th season, reports deadline.com. The showcast — an audio only feed of that day’s episode — will go live on weekdays and can be accessed on all major Podcast platforms.

Y&R to stream audio versions of every new episode starting Sept. 30, 2022.

They are calling this "showcasts" instead of "podcasts" because it's the show (and not a discussion of the show). But it's available on all podcast platforms.

According to DC, showcast episodes will premiere each weekday at 3:30 PM Eastern.

Circa 1969-1970, I used to listen to ABC soaps from a regular VHF television broadcast station (I think it was ABC's channel 6 in New Bedford, Massacusetts) that a local FM radio happened to pick up. This wasn't intentional by the network, but it always worked.

It was great if you were in a car and couldn't watch TV, you could listen to your soaps on the FM radio in your car.

I guess it’s really that much of a chore now to watch, since I already just “listen” to the the show when I’m on my daily walk around the neighborhood…I barely pay attention to what’s onscreen anymore

I had one of those.  Would listen to it on Summer vacations.  I remember listening to Ross and Blake's (GL) first wedding.

And of course it's full circle back to the radio days.  I've heard my grandma used to listen to GL while gardening.
