I live in Texas and I've only heard soda or the direct name of the particular soda. Pop or Soda Pop...never!

Yes, everything is a coke. A Pepsi, a Sprite, a Mountain Dew, etc. When you say you want a coke it refers to all carbonated beverages. Then people will just ask what kind of coke you want.

I can second that. And it's especially true in the South, where I'm from. Say "Coke" and the server will ask you whether you desire Sprite, Mountain Dew, and well, everything else Erica said.
