Terence Stamp was one of a kind. He could be a chameleon so easily.

If you've never seen him in Federico Fellini's terrifying horror short Toby Dammit, do. It's on the Criterion Channel and probably many other places.

WOW. He definitely had a knack for popping up in movies at the most random moments for me. But he was a master of his domain.

 

Kneel Before Zod is going to hit different.

I first knew of Terence Stamp in Priscilla, as it was a big deal when it came out, an international sensation. I first truly saw him, as @Faulkner posted in their clips, in Far From the Madding Crowd, one of the first times I saw a number of the amazing talents in that film. He was breathtaking as the dashing soldier who helps propel the fantasy life of Julie Christie compared to the sturdy Alan Bates as the reality. What a lucky lady Julie was for that film. 

It took me a while to realize he was General Zod, one of the best comic book movie supervillains.

I'll always associate him with Teorema, where he is utterly perfect as the detached yet incredibly intense deity-like figure who gives a rich family the gift and the curse of enlightenment.

That’s where first saw him too. Just so sexy. That Carey Mulligan adaptation a few years back was so inferior. (Tom Sturridge is no Terence Stamp in spite of their shared initials.)

Got a sad news coming from the Court Justice community of Rhode Island:

Judge Frank Caprio is dead at 88 years old. I've remembered him on A&E show Parking Wars in early 2010s.

Today marks 25 years since former 2nd Bahaman Premier (1967-69) and former first Bahamian Prime Minister (1969-92) The Rt. Hon. Sir Lynden O. Pindling died on this day in 2000 (same year I was born in The Bahamas as a new baby then in 2000). Nicknamed "The Father of the Nation.

He stands as a giant among all actors.






On the day he came to play the Vietnam Vet who pulls his old pal Buddy out of a tight squeeze in Powwow Highway, Graham had endured one of the more difficult journeys imaginable. Not only traveling from Canada on the day he would begin work, but having his flight delayed and ground transportation go sideways to the point where he barely got to the set in time to get into his wardrobe.


Despite which, when he sat down in the bleachers and revealed the depth of his character’s wounds –– broken so deeply by his PTSD that even speaking was agony –– his work was simply and utterly magnificent. A living condemnation of all that had dragged him to the moment, yet still a man who would call out his one-time friend for having gotten mean. The movie was transformed.




The next year Graham was cast as Kicking Bird in Dances With Wolves, and a groundbreaking career was launched. He spit on pretense, but he could and would play all the colors –– drolly and fearlessly –– which is why he’s held in reverence by those who got to work with him. On the day he went to work on Longmire, I noticed that one of the actors had left his door open in the row of mobile dressing rooms, inviting company. It was Graham, of course… 




“He will be missed” can’t really cover the scope of the moment. He was a big-time credit to the human species, and tonight I’m grateful for all the years we got to witness the consistently irresistible observations he offered.

       Thank you.   That was part of my reasoning as well. I think about the days of Kevin, Joey, and Jessica on OLTL or Lucky/Liz/Nik/Sarah/Emily on GH or the Last Blast Kids on DAYS or the Glow by Jabot kids, and it takes me back. Sure I started soaps due to the older cast with their divas, but I do like to see people around my age back then, too. Great memories.   So I love a good relatable teen tale. Bullying. Hormones for the Bad Boy. College choices and internal conflict.

      Thank you for the information.  I did listen to the entire interview with Miss Roux -- way back when it was first released.  But I am unable to recall her mentioning Connie Ford, and don't have time nor effort to listen to the entire thing again, just for one small morsel. So again, thanks for responding.    I do recall Roux sounded extremely fragile and perhaps a bit wounded in the interview. I almost felt guilty for even listening to it.  So perhaps that has some influence on my reluctance to listen to it again.  She seemed troubled, to say the least.

      @depboy Thanks. That does help. @titan1978 @Paul Raven Really enjoying the analysis of the production methods and what Monty was doing.  I wish we got some of those biopics here that a few UK soaps got as a biopic on Monty's first few years at GH would be fascinating.

      The original 'mansion' was one of the set upgrades they did in 1980 . It was the Chandler residence. When that story fizzled out I think it became Stuart Whyland's house -not 100 on that. But it was revealed that Stuart was working for the Di Mera's (rewrite) so Stefano moved into that house. Mmmm...then it became Alex Marshall's? Neil and Liz lived there also. At some point it was finally replaced.

      I don't remember that. What I recall is Alan living at Revabend, working as a farm hand and listening to Reva b!tch about money. Truly, I felt sorry for Pilon having to play that.
