Anyone watch this on TV? I loved the film & saw some of the Sally Struthers years but missed the ABC Seasons

 

 

Wow. I never knew this existed! Dolly's sister played Dolly's role? 

I also have some memories of the syndicated version. I've never seen the original seasons. What a cast that is. Well, the first two, anyway...

 

The first opening is fine.

 

(the season 2 opening looks hideous - that style was very "in" in the early '80s but it looks terrible here)

 

The third opening is marred by the text typing.

 

The fourth one has an interesting look at first but then spends way too much on that bizarre rotary telephone design - is that a way of saying they had way too many cast members and didn't know how to show them? And why is the song so sped up? 

 

I notice they completely gave up on Rachel looking like Dolly.

I think the 1st opening is the only good one. They just got progressively worse 

And S 3 new EP Komack,  fired Valerie Curtian for Leah Ayres since Jane Fonda Quit and they both played Judy. Fonda in the film and Curtain in the TV series
