But to be fair...aren't most shows standalone in their first season.

Glad to find the thread. Got scared. Bad, Toups. :P

All that said, I wouldn't call it standalone. There were arcs spreaded across the season.

So...what would people like to see?

Glad CW is picking it up. Ive seen episodes here and there but with Monday being The Voice and DWTS days I don't get to see it on a regular basis. I hope to pick up season 1 dvd on blu ray this summer to catch up.

Big UGH! to this moving to CW. i guess the only plus side is that it got saved but Im not feeling this news. The worst aspect of the show is the girly material and romance aspect and I expect the CW to kick that up a notch instead of downplaying it

oh god I hope not

A superhero show is never going to be a big breakout on a network like CBS or Fox (I like how they still spin Gotham as a hit). If you want a cable or internet show, you're going to get the ratings for one. CBS has the ability to sneeze at 7 or 8 million viewers but the demo sucked. It won't get anywhere near what it did but if it's on par with the other superhero shows, it's fine. It's the better fit for a show like this and the CW will probably drag it on for years now.

They never have….Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter lasted 1 year on ABC before moving to CBS. On CBS it lasted just another 2 years. And this was back in the 70s when superheroes were all over Saturday morning cartoons. I think the longest running superhero if you can call him that was The Incredible Hulk on CBS. It lasted 5 years….Didnt a recent Superman on CW not sure of the channel last longer? I never watched so don't know…LOL

Spiderman also had a live action show that didn't last very long. The live action 60s Batman was the closest thing to a hit, but in terms of years it wasn't that long either, but shows also had 30 episode seasons in the 1960s. But none of them last long and don't really have high ratings. For The CW though, it's high ratings, but for the former WB, it's nothing. Smallville did well for a while, it lasted 10 or 11 years. I was a fan in the beginning but it got tired. I got the idea behind it, but I think it was a mistake to combine UPN and The WB.

But Benoist is a good star for the CW to have and a female led superhero drama is exactly what they need to combat the male led ones.

Speaking of 60s Batman…the show is a great buy on Blu ray!  The picture hasn't looked better! Its a great Blu ray set to have!

    • And the rating 'wars' continue...hehe.
    • Well, it was fun while it lasted for Rebecca Herbst. Le sigh.
    • I am wholeheartedly enjoying this show. I just haven't been able to post as much as I used to. But yes, this episode needs to be submitted for the EMMYs and there needs to be wins. I better NOT see Y&R, DAYS, or B&B winning in categories over BTG. I feel like the only show that is giving BTG an ounce of competition this season is GH.
    • I never thought the day would come, but too much MM for me.
    • I think it may be that the character was brought in for a specific purpose and then became popular with viewers, and the show didn't know how to respond.  The choice to pivot away from Simon/India may show that you are right and they didn't care for her...although pairing them up may be another sign they didn't care for her. I don't connect well with this period but it does make me happy seeing some of these characters before the great purge and some of the surprises - I'd forgotten the wonderful Maureen O'Sullivan popped up to be bumped off. So typical of soaps by this point, but it doesn't grate as much as later on when Y&R would bring on any random cast member from Small Wonder. I'm also amazed at this time at just how much money the show must have had. The costumes for the Founder's celebration in summer 1984, or whatever it was, looked gorgeous.
    • Which officially started to feel that way today with them hearing each other out as they confronted each other at the same time.    Same. He was even catching himself when he was about to go overboard or do those tics that people don't seem to like. He failed a bit at the end, but he carried. It makes me think about a month back when it was discussed that the actor was better in other things he's been in. And I questioned then if that meant that he was playing Martin more intentionally. I questioned that briefly again today because he was giving.
    • I really like the actress who plays Margo. Don't know  her name. I'm so hesitant to google anyone because I don't want to know the length they were on the show. I've watched two episodes and I have to say that the show does not feel as dated as other shows. I tried to watch Ryan's Hope a few weeks back and some of the acting was a bit rough. EON is a lot more natural which amuses me considering it's a mystery/thriller show.
    • She’s INCREDIBLE. I’m so glad you enjoyed this my friend.
    • I loved SOAP OPERA NOW because they  did detailed analysis of the ratings. https://www.instagram.com/p/DJS504ep-ff/ 14th Annual SOD Awards 1998 GH Edit with a Y&R shout-out to Bill Bell who is then seen in the audience.
