She doesn't need to be Monica. Carly and AJ as Carly and AJ work fine. LW and SK work very well off of one another. I really enjoy them onscreen together, but I need AJ to be a bit tougher with her. He caves way to easily.

To me, it seems like Todd is talking about friends and lovers. Has he had a relationship where they were purely friends first? Carly accepted Todd when he first came to town and asked no questions. They became pretty good friends. She was there for Todd when Blair refused to marry him.

I can see that but even if he had 20 friends over on OLTL, he is trying to win Carly back. Hyping her up and making her feel uniquely important to him benefits that goal. I don't think he's supposed to be taken literally
