Disney stands to make a profit off this new venture, which is why I'm guessing PP was granted the use of archived material, but I'm would still be really surprised if they are able to use flashbacks on a regular basis.

I would love to be wrong because I'm hoping for a full-blown montage when Brooke and Adam finally tie the knot (at least they better), but suspect I'm not.

Loved the catch-up!

YAAASSSSSSSSS!!! The little "ABC Daytime" piano chord at the end chocked my bitch ass UP!!

They picked a momentous scene to open this with, Bianca's coming out, showcasing some of ER and SuLu's best acting in the show's history.

I am awestruck by how they brilliantly took Debbi/Angie's monologue from the ABC finale and flipped the script to make it relevant to the return of AMC. The use of clips of our beloved Kate, Myrtle, Phoebe, Langley, Palmer, originalRuth, etc. I'm openly weeping! That little piano piece from the finale playing underneath all of that? SH!T man, it done got real! Our AJ and our Miranda hugged up like BFFs? My handsome Peter, proudly returning to his hometown? DONE. Dixie's hair is still on POINT, you say? DONE.

Oh, and haters? Yall know what to do!

The part about David losing two daughters? Yea clearly they must mean Marissa and Cara's son or daughter in this "re-telling" of the scene. It was brilliantly done indeed! I do still wonder about why David is in jail. In the jail clip, he's acting like he found out JR shot and killed Marissa while in prison, which doesn't make much sense. Where was David last seen in the ABC finale?

They look super couple-y to me! And I didn't even mean it like soap supercouple but it still works wub.png

Interesting trade-off - I thought the AMC recap needed more narration and more archival clips in the individual sections for couples/characters, as opposed to putting a lot of the older material at the end. But, you guys also got new dialogue and bits of new scenes interspersed throughout, whereas with OLTL we just got a quick montage of shots.

Either way, both recaps were just wonderful work overall. I cried through both. Really lovely, classy, classy stuff. Especially with Tad talking about people who aren't here, and their cutting to James Mitchell, or even simply not-around, beloved vets like Kelly Ripa. I just can't stop crying. Both of these packages are so well done, and the footage looks great. The location work of Pete driving back into Pine Valley - which actually looks like Pennsylvania - and the sign took my breath away.

I didn't think the location footage looked Peapack at all. It was outside, yes, but it was properly lit and shot - just establishing the small town. It didn't look like a burnt-out husk like Peapack.

I'm going to call it - I think Cara is lying about the kid being dead. Because David Hayward.

Well said, Vee!

A few other quick notes:

They showed Michael Lowry as Jake but sort of obscured Ricky. Perhaps that rumor about trying to get Michael back was true.

LOL at them using footage of Zach in the tornado to make it seem like that's what caused his "death" at the end of the series.

Who was watching Ryan and David fighting around the corner? I can't remember.

Okay, okay, I'll take you guys' word and say that it doesn't look like Peapack. I think anything any soap does from here on out that takes place on a highway will bring back those horrible memories.

GOD, I'd run over five senior citizens and twenty kids to be cuddled up in that convertible next to my lil dimepiece Peter Cortlandt!
