I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

I'm sure they're going to work out scheduling with the actors well in advance and perhaps set up some sort of "first refusal" agreements. It'll force production to run a very tight, extremely efficient ship, but it's possible. If the storylines and shooting schedules are mapped out accordingly, there should be little issue. And the fact of the matter is, a butt load of acting gigs don't just fall out of the sky at actors' feet. If only. I'm not saying that nothing else will come up for these actors, but the idea that they'll be tripping over opportunities and forced to make Sophie's choice is just not gonna happen. I mean, where have all of those gigs been for the past 18 months?

I think they run fan events (or at least that's what I got from looking at their website).

It sounds to me like MEK simply has a scheduling issue keeping him from being able to commit to PP.

Did you read the interview that was just posted? He sounds disenchanted with the craft/his ability.
