HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

The fact that RH has been on GH as Todd for almost a year and the fact that they went out of the way to ensure he was Todd at the end of OLTL and no one else was, not even the portrayer that played him for 8 years...I mean, I'd say recasting Todd at this point is completely stupid, no offense to TSJ

The last time Todd was recast, they explained things away with plastic surgery to account for the new look, which left them with an out to go the route that they did when RH returned. That doesnt need to be the case anymore. A new actor can just come in with no one saying he looks different as is done with 90% soap recasts in soap history. I dont see the big deal

In any case, I dont think the character of Todd is needed on OLTL. He had outgrown the show and his last few months he seemed unfocused, trying to reclaim his place, but never quite getting there. They should leave him on the side and move on. He doesnt need to be an integral focal point of OLTL, especially since he usually amounts to the same type of tired storylines.

Is this really about what you think OLTL needs to be successful?

I mean even if you really believed Todd is essential to the reboot, would you consider that a worthy sacrifice for GH.

And the same tired writers are telling the same tired stories for Todd on GH that you say are worn out on OLTL.

I said diddly squat about Todd being on GH. He can get off of it for all I care, but that doesnt mean I think he is needed on OLTL

OLTL sure as hell ain't going to be sucessful if they recast Todd, Starr and John

I will say if anyone thought PP would get their asses together and get these shows online why was KDP lobbying so hard to get a contract with GH ;)

That's fine. I just wanted to be sure what you meant. I am not a Todd fan either. But I do think he's important on OLTL. Unlike Brody or Jared. Those characters could be useful but aren't necessary.

John fits better on GH than he did on OLTL, alot of GH/OLTL fans say they like him better on GH than they ever did on OLTL (I think that's cause he's free of the red headed albatross)

You can say that again.

What grand purpose does Todd serve in Port Charles? All he does is clean out Carly's ass with his tongue and tell her how sexy and savvy she is.

The sad part is that Ron trashed the enormous potential that he did have to make a mark in Port Charles.

Thank goodness common sense has prevailed.

I don't see any new information there. Just a different headline. It still says they don't know how they plan to accomplish this, PP still intends to recast the characters if necessary and they are expected to last air on GH in march as their current characters.

I'm extraordinarily curious. By repeating the same pessimistic statements over and over and over again, what do you hope to accomplish? It really does seem like you are rooting for them to fail. As if their failure to launch will give you much needed satisfaction for some personal wrong you've felt from these Prospect Park people.

Todd as a character ceased to exist a long time ago. For many years, he has basically been

- a class clown designed to hide Howarth's uncomfortability (I know that's not a word) in the role

- a piece of ass (TSJ)

- a piece of ass (Howarth 2.0)

Don't recast him - cut off the head and burn the body.

you just want John back because you think he needs to kiss that liar Natalie's ass, after what she did to him with Brody, he needs to kick her to the curb

Long as ME is away from that rancid-ass pairing that too many valuable characters had to fall in order to prop - especially when he sparks a hell of a lot more with KM than he ever did with anyone on OLTL - I'm all good. Bonus points if I never have to see that red-headed heifer darken my screen again.

I have an idea, instead of making ME Caleb, how about the John in PC is not the real John. Caleb brainwashed him or something, and the real John is being held somewhere, that way John never left Natalie and Liam and the John on GH had no idea so he would still have his relationships with Sam and Anna and they could even have him related to someone in PC. I have no idea about KA/Starr though, how you can make her a new character.

If PP can't get the actors, what are they going to do? PP needs to realize they screwed up big time, they promised these shows would be back as soon as AMC and OLTL ended and would be on five days a week for one hour, they didn't bother to tell the actors it was a no go instead they had to find out on the internet, they are not exactly trustworthy and the strong arm tactics that they are employing with the actors is not working. They share part of the blame and sometimes in life you can't get what you want, it looks like PP is going to need to grow up and accept that

Lol. I've been accused of agenda repeatedly when all I've been talking about is what I think is best for OLTL. I've already explained that I happily gift ME to GH. Just not John.

It's refreshing that you are so transparent about your own agenda.
