HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

I would love for it to be Brooke, but that raises a lot of other questions like is David Canary returning, or why would Adam ask her to run the company and be away from him while he lived out of town, why would they have Adam living in Pine Valley but never/hardly ever seen, or are they killing Adam off to "release" Brooke to take over? wacko.png

To the best of my knowledge, he is in good health but he made it pretty clear when he left that he simply no longer wanted to deal with the grind of being on a daily show and that playing Adam and Stuart really wore him out. I think it's best to write Canary off for anything other than the occasional guest shot a la James Mitchell.

DC was tired of the daily grind, yes. But the biggest reason he chose retirement was due to the show moving to the West Coast. He didn't like Los Angeles when he previously worked there, and his wife, Maureen, doesn't like to fly, and they don't like being away from each other. DC lives rougly less than 20 minutes away from the new studios. While I don't think he would ever want to be a contract player with an A story at 74 years of age, he might be interested in appearing on a recurring basis. Ruth Warrick appeared for years sans Louis Edmonds' Langley, the writers were just creative about his absences. If DC doesn't want to play Adam and Stuart, maybe other than special occasion, it is completely reasonable that the story could have Stuart and Marion off canvas, either in Paris or Pigeon Hollow, and Adam, more often than Brooke, visits them.

Maybe Adam and Stuart decided to take a worldwide cruise and bond :D

Langley and his string of archaeological digs...

No kidding--for an old guy he sure worked hard. I can't remember--what did they say about Langley at Pheobe's funeral? I think they did mention she'd be joining him in Heaven.

If Adam "left control" of the Chandler fortune to someone else, does this mean Adam is dead?

I don't think necesarily--he already was willing basically to leave control to someone else, and had been told he could no longer work the way he was. I hate to even say this, but if DC doesn't want to return at all, maybe killing him off is the best thing and could lead story. In that script I wonder if they talk about him only in the past tense.

How I hope it's Brooke--that's the only woman lately I could imagine being attached to Adam's hip (at least off-screen...). A grown up Colby could too, I suppose--given the year and a half off screen, but I want Brooke biggrin.png

I love how Soapcentral says they won't reveal who Faith is for story spoiler reasons--I bet they have no idea. Based on that script alone it would be pretty easy to guess the guy was JR--even if they say they learned the news exclusively....

I also think it's Brooke. No other woman would be attached at the hip to him that I can think of.

That's true, they can just have him pop in like Langley or Ruth Martin.

Well, they did used to always take a fishing trip every summer, so it's not too out of the question that they'd travel together, with Marian, too while Brooke holds down the Chandler Enterprises fort.tongue.png

However, the script, although unseen refers to the person as attached to his hips, so unless they are attached to a corpse, it doesn't seem like Adam is dead.

Oh I assumed it said "Was always attached at the hip"-- Ha, sorry. But, hrmm

I forgot they faked fishing trips--what was the reason again?

Scott did have control at the end didn't he? God I hate that even the last month of AMC is starting to be forgotten by me...

The West Coast move was concocted in part to rid the show of costly vets. Frons knew David Canary wouldn't go.

No, I'm not going to get into a whole debate about it. It was far from the only reason, but it was a welcomed repercussion.

The Faith character is somewhat mysterious. Hmm. I'd love Brooke or Skye around. Skye would be brilliant but I just figure it's a Colby recast. Though the way they are treating it, a Colby recast shouldn't be that mysterious. The character's STILL a clean slate despite how many actresses in the role? At least 3 women right? Brianne, Natalie, Ambyr?

The fishing trips were so that DC could take his annual month vacation.

I agree that this was on the agenda.

I don't disagree that it was a part--but I don't buy into the conspiracy that it was entirely a ploy to get it canceled.

I knew that about the fishing trips--but I thought at some point they retconned the fishing trips to be about some secret meeting or something...
