Celebrities who loved soaps

So what celebrites do you guys know of that love soaps? I know Princess Diana and Elizabeth Taylor loved GH and Billy Currington loves GH. Reba McEntire was an All My Children fan and Julia Roberts loves DAYS. Wasn't Dolly Parton a One Life to Live fan or All My Children? I can't remember.

Apparently she met John Loprieno after a performance once and was thrilled to meet "Cord". ;)

I used to have the DAYS trivia book (yeah, USED to...oops), and Beverly Sills and Maree Cheatham once performed the national anthem together, and Beverly was thrilled to be singing with "Marie Horton."

Kim Zimmer said in her book that Stevie Wonder and his wife approached her once and told her what huge GL fans they were.

I'm sorry, but, "Stevie saw me across a crowded room and just had to meet me!"

I'm literally looking through my copy of her book (yeah, I know), trying to find the exact quote. The way Kim told the story, it was a huge honor that his wife met her.

Not that I'm surprised she'd tell it like that, of course ;) .

Luther Vandross even mentioned his soap love when he gave a tour of his house on Oprah. When he walked through the TV room with the plush sofas he was like, "This is where I do my All My Children'ing, my One Live to Livin'..."

Here's one from the GH coffee table book:

Norma Connolly sat next to Julie Andrews once on a plane, when she turns to her and says, "I know you! You're Aunt Ruby."

And KMC visited Fin once on the set of Blossom, and according to her, Mayim Bialik looked at her and screamed, "OH MY GOD! ROBIN! ROBIN! I'M YOUR BIGGEST FAN!" biggrin.png

The very cute little brunette girl who played Sarah on OLTL before Hayden P. played Finola's daugter on Blossom. She had an English accent for her first episode but it was such a chore to listen to her that they dropped it by episode two.

I remember when AMC moved to LA and they had The View special and Whoopi asked them about black love interests and it got awkward LOL laugh.png

Does anyone remember what the question was?

I think she asked why female black characters were never paired with white male characters. Of course, she probably never watched Livia and Tom.

Star Jones even thanks Susan Lucci in the postscript of her book, for her Erica Kane who inspires her daily. Susan narrated Star's Lifetime Intimate Portrait.

Courtney Chase. It is strange how they could never make their mind up about Sarah's haircolor, huh?

Of course, if they remembered that Maria was her and CJ's grandmother, they might have been Mexican-American kids, so you could argue that they were never truly on point there, anyway.

Back on topic:

I remember reading once that Valerie Bertinelli was a Ryan's Hope fan, and Mackenzie Phillips mentioned watching Luke & Laura on the run on GH in her book.

This is where I do my All My Children'ing, my One Live to Livin'...

And yet, to this day, women especially are surprised (and disappointed) when they hear the man was gay.

They also made at least two All My Children references during the series. The one that I remember at the moment was when Fran was going to the Paramus Mall to see the cast of AMC and Nigel excitingly asks if Erica Kane will be there. Paramus Mall is an infamous spot for soap star appearances. They even reference it in Soapdish.

The Paramus Park Mall was huge for soap events up until its final one in 2006 with Genie Francis.

Norma Connolly sat next to Julie Andrews once on a plane, when she turns to her and says, "I know you! You're Aunt Ruby."

Julie Andrews is also best friends with Nancy Lee Grahn.
