February 21, 20233 yr Member @DRW50 [RTD] asked me to join the ranks, and he said, 'Please come and play with us.' How can you resist that?' [...] I haven't worked with Ncuti yet. I've done the read-through with him, and he's gorgeous… he's absolutely adorable and very talented. Milly, I adore. I think she's absolutely stunning.
March 13, 20233 yr Author Member Thanks for finding that. Given the state of the BBC at present I hope he can navigate those waters.

March 15, 20233 yr Member @DRW50 Grain of salt, but there have been rumors of a new UNIT spinoff for awhile featuring Ruth Madeley's upcoming character. Now this too: The Mirror has picked this up and alleged it will star Jemma Redgrave as Kate Stewart. Moffat, Gaiman and Gatiss are all rumored to be writing for the next series but there's nothing certain. And of course there is more talk alleging Carole Ann Ford is def in the third and final anniversary special. Edited March 15, 20233 yr by Vee
March 15, 20232 yr Author Member Thanks @Vee for keeping up with all this for those of us who aren't as much these days. Sounds like a good idea to have a UNIT-focused show, especially with the world these days. I wish they could resurrect a few of the dead Torchwood figures for this.

March 19, 20232 yr Member Oh, I'd forgotten all about this. What fun. Meanwhile: Also, Deadline claims to have confirmed the UNIT rumor with sources at the BBC. But RTD has shot down talk of a new children-themed spinoff for now, sadly. Per an interview with SFX Magazine: Quote "It's an ideal, but we're coming back to a world in which money in children's [TV] is in even shorter supply. [...] Even with all the good will in the world, we'd find it very hard to do now, unfortunately. There are fantasy shows – they do stuff. But our stuff is expensive. You also have to keep the spin-offs looking as good as the main show in order to maintain the entire brand – that's part of the problem as well. So it's genuinely tricky. There is no plan at the moment for children's, and I'm sad about that, but just affording it would be hard." I do think it will happen eventually, hopefully with Katy Manning as persistently rumored. March 20, 20232 yr Author Member Sorry to hear about the kids show not going forward anytime soon, if not surprised. Much of RTD's heart is in that genre, so I'm sure if he ever can he'll try.
